Diversified Gas & Oil Corporation (DGOC) is an established owner and operator of producing conventional and unconventional natural gas & oil wells and midstream pipelines and compression stations concentrated in the Appalachian Basin in the United States. Headquartered in Birmingham, AL, our field operations are located throughout the Appalachian Basin in the states of Tennessee, Kentucky, Virginia, West Virginia, Ohio, and Pennsylvania. In 2021, Diversified announced our expansion into our Central Regional Focus Area, which includes producing areas within Louisiana, Texas, Oklahoma, and Arkansas.
POSITION SUMMARY & RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Director of Safety will report to the Senior Vice President of Environmental, Health and Safety and lead all matters related to Safety enterprise-wide for Diversified Energy Company. The position will be officed in Downtown Houston. Special focus will be placed on:
  • Identification and elimination of safety risk through robust safety programs, policies, and procedures.
  • Effective communication of safety matters including safety vision, strategy, and critical actions to advance company-wide safety performance
  • Development of a safety system in compliance with ANSI Z-10
  • Development of standard operating procedures and safe work practices working with operations.
  • Ownership of safety culture efforts
  • Ownership of the Safety Leadership Committee and all matters related to initiatives, action items and programs flowing from the committee
  • Leading the corporate safety team with strong relationships with field safety specialists and EHS managers
  • Maintaining trailing and leading statistics including SIF and PSIF with BI dashboards.
  • Provide regular updates to operational and Safety and Sustainability Committee meetings.
  • Delivery of high-impact messaging and training using enhanced learning techniques such as workgroups, micro-learning, video, and other dynamic content to make safety meetings so good people would pay to come.
  • Use of AI to assist in efficiency, quality and management of data and workflows.
  • Implementation of the enterprise safety management software. Experience with KPA software a plus.
  • Management of the company's 4 gas monitor program
  • Maintains a field presence to understand challenges of operations. Identifies safety issues and implements solutions.
  • Maintains the company FR clothing program
  • Leadership in maintaining the contractor safety program including ISNetworld.
  • Provide guidance and assistance to field operations and operations leaders.
  • Respond to agency inquires.
  • Proactively support and/or leads EH&S initiatives that support the business and the organization's themes and corporate strategies.
  • Contribute to and influences team priorities as a strong team member or leader. Seeks the ideas and opinions of others. Encourages and motivates teams to accomplish results. Fosters trust.
  • Knowledge of Environmental regulations and programs, with experience in leadership with environmental and regulatory programs is a plus.
  • Successfully mentors operations in safety and environmental matters.
  • Travel requirement- 25% (up to 50% during initial training period)

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
  • Bachelor of Science degree in safety, environmental, or other science, engineering or technical subjects.
  • Master's degree in a related field or MBA is a plus.
  • Certified Safety Professional credential is strongly preferred.
  • 15 years' experience in safety in the oil and gas industry is required.
  • Prior experience as a manager is required.
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Office suite

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:
  • Prolonged periods working at a desk in front of a computer.

Additional Requirements:
  • Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at a time.
