Job description


Student Custodian - Part-time
Position Purpose


Provide support for custodial services for PTS facilities.  Provide a clean, comfortable and safe environment for all district sites, associated buildings and adjacent grounds while promoting the mission of Perry Township Schools.
Essential Functions



 
  • Responsible for routine custodial duties in all areas of the building

  • Respond to spills, accidents, etc. that require immediate custodial attention

  • Responsible for maintaining custodial closets in a clean and orderly condition

  • Responsible for providing assistance to maintenance personnel when directed

  • Perform related or special tasks as assigned by the Head Custodian and School Administrator

  • If working the daytime shift, responsible for snow removal from the exterior entry door areas and exterior sidewalks out to the curb. Spread sand, salt or other chemicals to prevent slipping

  • Perform general manual labor tasks including loading, unloading, lifting and moving materials

  • Promote an environment free of harassment and discrimination

  • Demonstrate a commitment to work

  • Ability to work independently with minimum supervision

  • Demonstrate good judgment and common sense

  •  Available to work additional hours to meet the needs of the position

  • Other duties may be assigned

 

Equipment 

 
  • Use hand tools of trade and related power equipment, including brooms, mops, floor cleaning and
    waxing machines, vacuum cleaners, snow blowers, and snow shovels

  • Operate equipment and machinery in a fashion to provide a safe environment

  • Responsible for maintaining assigned custodial equipment in clean, operationally ready condition and reporting any repairs needed to the Head Custodian
