Summary

The Welder III - 2nd shift - Hot Wire TIG (HWT) is a highly skilled welding professional responsible for performing advanced welding, cladding, and repair operations on critical components using Hot Wire TIG and other approved welding processes. This position requires the ability to set up, operate, and troubleshoot automated and semi-automated welding equipment while ensuring compliance with Welding Procedure Specifications (WPS), engineering drawings, and quality requirements. The Welder III performs complex weldments with minimal supervision, conducts weld inspections, maintains accurate production records, and supports continuous improvement efforts. This role serves as a technical resource within the welding department and may assist in training and mentoring less experienced welders while maintaining the highest standards of safety, quality, and productivity.

Job Responsibilities
  • Perform advanced Hot Wire TIG (HWT) welding, cladding, overlay, and repair operations in accordance with approved Welding Procedure Specifications (WPS), engineering drawings, and manufacturing requirements.
  • Set up, operate, and troubleshoot Hot Wire TIG equipment, automated welding systems, manipulators, and related welding machinery to achieve required weld quality and productivity targets.
  • Review and interpret blueprints, weld symbols, work orders, BOMs, and technical specifications to determine welding requirements and sequence of operations.
  • Verify material identification, filler metals, welding parameters, and equipment settings prior to welding activities.
  • Monitor welding operations, including amperage, voltage, wire feed speed, travel speed, bead placement, and automatic voltage control systems to ensure conformance to specifications.
  • Perform preheat, interpass temperature monitoring, post-heating, and other thermal process requirements in accordance with applicable WPS and quality standards. [
  • Conduct visual inspections of completed welds and verify workmanship meets engineering, customer, and quality requirements.
  • Complete weld traceability documentation, production records, quality reports, and work order transactions accurately and timely. [
  • Maintain welder qualifications, certifications, and continuity records required for assigned welding processes.
  • Inspect and maintain welding equipment, torches, gas delivery systems, power sources, and tooling to ensure safe and reliable operation.
  • Follow all company safety, quality, environmental, and housekeeping requirements and actively participate in continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Assist with training, mentoring, and providing technical guidance to less experienced welders and production personnel as needed.
  • Collaborate with supervisors, welding engineers, inspectors, and quality personnel to resolve welding issues and improve manufacturing processes. [
  • Work independently on complex and critical weldments while maintaining productivity, safety, and quality expectation.
Required Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or equivalent (GED)
  • Minimum 3 years of relevant experience

Skills and Abilities:

  • Advanced Hot Wire TIG (GTAW) welding on carbon steel, stainless steel, and alloy materials.
  • Ability to set up, operate, and troubleshoot Hot Wire TIG welding equipment.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, weld symbols, BOMs, and Welding Procedure Specifications (WPS).
  • Perform multi-pass welds while maintaining proper interpass cleaning and temperature requirements.
  • Verify and control welding parameters including current, voltage, wire feed speed, travel speed, and heat input.
  • Perform weld joint fit-up and maintain required weld dimensions and tolerances.
  • Knowledge of weld metallurgy, preheat, interpass temperature control, and PWHT requirements.

Additional Information

  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis, now or in the future, without employer sponsorship for employment visa status.
  • No relocation assistance. Location Houston, Tx-JFK
  • Hours 3:00PM-11:30PM(Monday through Friday, with overtime as required)
