Operations Engineer - Offshore Oil & Gas
Quality Process Services (QPS) is seeking an experienced Operations Engineer to support deepwater offshore production operations in the Gulf of America. This rotational position plays a critical role in maintaining production reliability, optimizing facility performance, and supporting safe, efficient offshore operations.

Position Summary
The Operations Engineer provides on-platform engineering support to maximize production uptime, improve equipment reliability, and optimize operating costs. Working closely with Operations, Maintenance, Process Engineering, Production Engineering, and Facilities teams, this position supports the safe operation of offshore production facilities while driving continuous improvement initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
Support the safe operation of offshore production, utility, and safety systems.
Monitor facility performance and identify opportunities to improve production efficiency.
Troubleshoot mechanical, process, electrical, and control system issues.
Support maintenance planning to minimize downtime and maximize equipment reliability.
Participate in Process Safety Management (PSM), Job Safety Analysis (JSA), and Permit-to-Work (PTW) activities.
Perform production surveillance for oil, gas, and water treatment systems.
Conduct downtime investigations and root cause analyses.
Identify bottlenecks and recommend process improvements to increase production.
Support facility upgrades, modifications, commissioning, and startup activities.
Assist with subsea operations, well tie-ins, and integrity activities.
Review isolation plans and support Control of Work processes.
Verify product quality through sampling, meter calibration, and QA/QC activities.
Support chemical treatment programs and optimize production performance.
Provide engineering support during emergency response situations.
Coordinate with offshore operations personnel and shore-based engineering teams.
Qualifications
Education
Bachelor's degree in Petroleum Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.
Experience
Minimum of 5 years of oil and gas industry experience
Process engineering experience preferred
Offshore Gulf of America experience preferred
Preferred Technical Knowledge
Offshore production operations
Oil, gas, and water separation processes
P&IDs and Process Flow Diagrams (PFDs)
Pumps, compressors, heat exchangers, and control valves
Pressure relief systems
Process controls and instrumentation
Oilfield chemistry
Root cause analysis
Corrosion, scaling, foaming, and emulsion control
Project planning and cost evaluation
Skills
Strong troubleshooting and analytical abilities
Excellent communication and teamwork skills
