Job description

BASIC PURPOSE OF POSITION:

This position is responsible for directing pipeline maintenance activities that ensure the integrity of the pipeline system, in compliance with DOT and State Regulatory Agency codes and requirements. Responsible for the maintenance of associated above / below ground piping and valving, associated piping / valving in metering and valve stations, product prime mover pump stations, and pipeline maintenance contractors. This position is responsible for ensuring pipeline-related projects are designed, communicated, and conducted per engineering standards to meet DOT and State Regulatory Agency requirements. Responsible for ensuring that all safety, environmental, and applicable policies and procedures are maintained and adhered to per company requirements.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Manage the Pipeline Maintenance department to provide quality maintenance to the Pacific Pipeline Company systems that will allow for the timely and efficient delivery of crude oil
  • Provide management / guidance to the Pipeline maintenance department on project related activities, scope of work, safety policies and procedures, DOT and state agency regulations, to maintain the safety and environmental protection for the maintenance operation of the Pipeline systems
  • Provide management / guidance to the Pipeline Supervisors and Technicians on projects and maintenance related activities to maintain the integrity of the Pipelines and associated systems that are vital to the operation of the overall Pipeline system
  • Maintain a well managed maintenance system for piping, valve, and pump repair / replacement and a preventative maintenance system that supports Pacific Pipeline Company

POSITION SPECIFICATIONS:

  • A minimum of 15+ years Operations / Maintenance experience and knowledge and understanding of the hydraulics / logistics of pipeline operation, pipeline maintenance and communications activities associated with maintaining the pipeline system process
  • A background in liquid pipeline operations and maintenance practices are an invaluable asset to this position to enhance the interfacing required for Engineering and Regulatory agency relationships
  • The position requires computer literacy, strong problem solving abilities, have effective listening skills, be a good communicator, and coach
  • Must have good leadership qualities and serve as a role model for peers and subordinates effectively with management, peers, vendors, contractors and regulatory agencies

PAY INFORMATION: Annual Salary Pay Range: $175k - $200k

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

The position requires manual dexterity to handle documents and operate office equipment such as fax machines, copiers, printers, shredders, and computers. Also required is performing repetitive motions and extended periods of sitting, standing, and walking for varying lengths of time. The position requires interacting and communicating professionally with others via speaking, hearing and writing, learning new tasks, processes and concepts, thinking to solve problems, concentrating on required tasks, distinguishing color and depth perception and reading data, figures, electronic and hard copy documents.

Visual and manual dexterity is extremely important for this position. The job presents no work hazards beyond those normally present in an office environment. Incumbent will be subject to performing sedentary to light work, exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally, or constantly lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, reach overhead for items, stoop, bend, and twist while working. Other physical activities include ability to utilize fingers to feel and grasp objects or work devices as needed and manual dexterity in the use of the hands, seeing, talking, hearing, performing repetitive motions and standing for long periods of time.

Incumbent must be able to drive a vehicle, usually a car or light truck, and get into and out of the vehicle on a regular basis. The position requires walking or traversing over and across uneven terrain, accessing areas outdoors and on or around equipment, over or around obstacles or structures such as pipes, low rails, and walls, stooping or bending to reach certain locations, climbing stairs or ladders, and exposure to outside weather conditions.

The position requires wearing personal protection equipment such as gloves, gas mask, suits, etc. with an average weight of 10-25 pounds.
