Job description

Low Voltage Security Installation TechnicianPosition Overview

We are seeking experienced Security Installation Technicians to support multi-site deployments of IP-based video surveillance systems. This role involves installing, configuring, testing, and commissioning security infrastructure, including cameras, network video recorders (NVRs), low-voltage cabling, and supporting network equipment.

Technicians will work on both interior and exterior installations, ensuring high-quality deployments while following project specifications, safety standards, and customer requirements.

Key Responsibilities
  • Install and mount interior and exterior IP surveillance cameras.
  • Install conduit and supporting infrastructure according to industry standards.
  • Run, terminate, test, and label network and low-voltage cabling.
  • Configure and commission IP cameras, NVRs, and associated network devices.
  • Establish and verify network connectivity between surveillance devices and recording systems.
  • Perform system testing, troubleshooting, and quality assurance checks.
  • Maintain accurate documentation, including cable labeling, device inventories, and site maps.
  • Ensure installations comply with project specifications, quality standards, and safety requirements.
  • Coordinate with project managers, site personnel, and fellow technicians to resolve field issues and maintain project schedules.
  • Provide detailed project updates and completion documentation.
Required Skills & Experience
  • Proven experience installing and configuring IP-based video surveillance systems.
  • Experience with CCTV installations and camera commissioning.
  • Strong conduit installation and exterior equipment mounting experience.
  • Knowledge of NVR setup and network connectivity troubleshooting.
  • Experience with structured cabling, Cat5e/Cat6 terminations, and low-voltage installation best practices.
  • Ability to read and update floor plans, site drawings, and technical documentation.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and customer service abilities.
  • Experience operating scissor lifts and working at elevated heights.
  • Ability to work independently while maintaining a high standard of workmanship.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience supporting large-scale, multi-site security deployments.
  • Understanding of networking fundamentals, including IP addressing and switch connectivity.
  • OSHA certification or comparable safety training.
  • Surveillance system manufacturer certifications are a plus.
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to lift and carry installation tools, equipment, and materials.
  • Comfortable working indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions.
