General Summary

Oxford Properties is recruiting for a Senior Associate, Sustainable Investing & Operations. This role bridges sustainability strategy and execution, translating emerging risks, regulations, and data into practical decision-making tools for investment and portfolio teams. The candidate will support the integration of sustainability, climate resilience, and ESG considerations across Oxford Properties' global investment, asset management, development, and operational activities. This role reports to the Associate Director, Sustainable Investing & Operations (Strategy & Implementation), within a global team spanning strategy, reporting, and data & analytics. The role works day-to-day with investment, asset management, and development teams across regions.

Principal Duties & Key Responsibilities

Climate Risk & Resilience

  • Lead Oxford's physical climate risk methodology, governance, and underwriting approach across the global portfolio.

  • Monitor market practice and regulatory expectations to keep Oxford's climate risk approach current and decision-useful.

  • Support the identification of climate hazard, inherent risk and collaboratively recommend approaches to risk management in due diligence activities.

  • Translate climate modelling into actionable investment, asset management, and development recommendations, and work with internal teams through implementation.

  • Support asset- and portfolio-level resilience planning and adaptation strategies.

ESG Regulation & Governance

  • Provide strategic advice to the business on emerging sustainability regulation, translating regulatory developments into business strategy, governance and operational requirements.

  • Maintain and improve the regulatory tracking process, ensuring outputs are communicated to relevant stakeholders and meet the needs of the business.

  • Coordinate cross-functional responses to new regulatory requirements, including data collection and gap analysis.

Data & Analytics

  • Oversee climate resilience methodology, tools and data architecture, ensuring outputs are accurate, scalable, and decision-useful.

  • Identify workflow improvements and automation opportunities to strengthen regulatory and climate risk analytics.

Strategic Advisory & Stakeholder Engagement

  • Prepare materials for executive leadership and the Investment Committee, and contribute to the development of sustainability targets, policies, governance processes, and strategic initiatives.

  • Act as a trusted advisor to investment, asset management, development, and corporate teams on climate risk and sustainability-related topics.

  • Lead cross-functional working groups and stakeholder engagement processes to develop, implement, and embed sustainability and climate risk initiatives across the organization.

  • Represent Oxford in external industry working groups (e.g., IIGCC) and support internal education and capability-building initiatives to advance climate risk expertise and sustainability best practices across the industry and organization.

Candidate Profile

  • Strong understanding of sustainability and climate risk, and how those might materialize across the real estate value chain and impact the business.

  • Advanced analytical and data management capabilities (specifically of physical climate risk data), including Excel, Power Bl, and large dataset analysis; Python proficiency is an asset.

  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to translate complex technical concepts into clear and actionable messages for diverse stakeholder groups, including senior leadership.

  • Self-motivated and comfortable working across strategy, analytics, and execution, with the ability to operate independently, navigate ambiguity, and drive initiatives end-to-end.

  • Minimum 5 years of relevant professional experience reflecting a demonstrated interest in sustainability, climate risk.

Team & Culture

Based in our Toronto office, you will play a key role within the Global Sustainable Investing and Operations team, helping to embed sustainability across our business and investment activities. The successful candidate will demonstrate adaptability, initiative, and a collaborative approach, with the ability to thrive in a fast-paced and evolving sustainability landscape.

This position currently follows a four-day-per-week in-office working policy.
