The Operations Associate is responsible for aiding in driving departmental results for the Fixed Income Settlements Team. This position requires the ability to gain a sound understanding of department subject matter including reviewing open trades and ensuring proper exchange of money and securities occurs. This position will require collaboration among team members to execute on departmental objectives under direct supervision while following established procedures.


  • Accurately perform job duties as provided by leadership while adhering to departmental procedures and guidelines.
  • Proficiently process, create, and enter data into systems to be utilized by our Financial Advisors and branch staff.
  • Identify potential problems or issues and escalate to department leadership if necessary.
  • Develop effective communication skills within the department.
  • Provide timely updates on progression of job responsibilities to leadership.
  • Demonstrate the ability to work collaboratively within a team.
  • Maintain accurate records of unsettled trades and proactively follow up until settlement is confirmed.
  • Inquire about trades with other departments to determine reason for delayed settlement.
  • Attain foundational knowledge of fixed income settlement regulations and complete all required trade documentation in compliance with regulatory standards.

  • Demonstrate ability to attain a general understanding of industry rules/regulations and Stifel policies that pertain to the department.
  • Strong attention to detail skills to minimize risk to the firm.
  • Initiative and self-direction when performing tasks with the ability to organize and prioritize effectively in order to meet deadlines.
  • Able to handle large workloads that vary based on heavy volume periods.
  • Ability to work autonomously throughout the day based on performance criteria provided by leadership.

  • Minimum Required: Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience
  • Minimum Required: 0-2 years' professional business related experience

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, including Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
