Nature of Work
Under general supervision, the booking clerk will assist security staff with processing inmates for intake and release. This work is performed within a secure facility and involves direct contact with inmates. This position will interpret court orders and circulate to the appropriate department for action; explain basic rules and regulations; comprehend and interpret policies and procedures, rules and regulations. This position will maintain the OIS system ensuring updates with current court orders, inventory inmate property, assist with updating housing assignments. The position will assist security staff with inmate identification through fingerprinting and photographing. This position will communicate directly with local magistrate and circuit courts, judges, circuit clerks, prosecutors, attorneys, other correctional facilities, federal facilities, law enforcement agencies, as well as the general public. Will perform other duties as assigned.

Training: Graduation from a standard high school or the equivalent.
AND
Experience: Two (2) years of full-time or equivalent part-time paid experience performing routine office work or customer-facing roles.
OR
Substitution: College hours, related business school, or vocational training may be substituted through an established formula for the required experience.
