The City of Sterling Heights Payroll team is seeking an organized and collaborative Senior Account Clerk to join the Office of Financial Services!
  • Pay starts at $30.1897/hr.

Position Summary
Under general supervision, the Senior Account Clerk is responsible for performing difficult accounting and clerical tasks in addition to those duties characteristic of an Account Clerk. Scope of work is subject to occasional review and direction from a superior, with a reasonable latitude for the independent application of professional accounting principles and practices. The Senior Account Clerk may be responsible for the supervision of other clerical employees and their adherence to prescribed managerial policies.
The current Senior Account Clerk vacancy is located within the City's Payroll Department and will assist with processing and reviewing payroll for employees. Knowledge of payroll procedures, accounting practices, applicable policies, collective bargaining agreements, and regulations is strongly preferred. Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail are essential for success in this position.
Minimum Qualifications
  • High school graduate or GED equivalent.
  • Minimum of one (1) year experience as an Account Clerk; or equivalent experience.
  • Good interpersonal and problem-solving skills with the ability to maintain courteous and professional composure.
  • Must have a strong organizational and supervisory skill set.
  • Excellent computer skills, including Microsoft Excel.
