Job description

Under the supervision of the Office & Building Services Supervisor, the Building Maintenance Technician is responsible for performing routine and emergency building maintenance including plumbing, carpentry, low-voltage electrical work, painting and dry wall repair, and grounds maintenance. The Building Maintenance Technician helps ensure our workspace is in good working condition and compliant with all applicable regulations.

Essential Job Functions and Responsibilities:

  • Performs basic repairs including but not limited to light carpentry, dry wall repair, interior and common area painting, and upkeep of exterior structures and grounds.
  • Performs routine building checks and preventive maintenance on equipment, electrical and plumbing systems, HVAC, and appliances, which includes conducting monthly lighting inspections and replacement of lights where/as needed.
  • Prioritizes and responds to maintenance requests and emergency repair needs, identifying issues to Supervisor that require escalation to specialized vendors or contractors
  • Manages equipment and supply needs, and coordinates ordering, scheduling deliveries, and installation.
  • Ensures tools, equipment, and storage areas are kept in clean, organized and operable condition.
  • Supports fleet operations by scheduling and transporting vehicles for maintenance and service, coordinating routine car washes, collecting monthly vehicle logs, and conducting basic inspections to identify and report any issues to the Supervisor
  • Run errands to local suppliers to purchase tools, materials, and maintenance-related supplies as needed
  • Support office moves, setups, and minor installations (furniture, fixtures, etc.)
  • Assist with the annual company holiday fruit sale
  • Performs other duties as assigned

Minimum Educational and Experience Qualifications/Requirements:

  • High School Diploma preferred or equivalent work experience required.
  • 2 years Building Maintenance Technician
  • 1 year's low voltage electrical
  • 1 year's plumbing
  • 1 year's facility maintenance
  • Required Drivers license
  • Required Forklift Certification, ability to acquire license within 6 months of employment
  • Possess knowledge of basic principles of plumbing, low voltage wiring systems, carpentry, and HVAC systems maintenance.
  • Ability to repair drywall, paint, and operate hand tools safely.
  • Ability to read blueprints and plans.
  • Ability to maintain records.
  • Ability to assess building needs and problem-solve in a timely and efficient manner.
  • Ability to organize and prioritize own work.
