Job description

The Office Assistant possesses knowledge in the scheduling of Provider appointments. Answers and directs all phone calls in an efficient and courteous manner. Demonstrates verbal skills with telephone calls and patient reception. Able to coordinate all appointments to work in conjunction with Provider schedule. Interviews patients or their representative to obtain demographic, personal and financial information. Ensures that the patient information is collected and accurately entered into the clinic computer system. Distributes appropriate information to ancillary departments. Works with patients of all ages. The Clinic Office Assistant will float to all hospital-owned clinics as needed.
QUALIFICATIONS
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. QUALIFICATIONS
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:

  • High School Diploma or General Equivalency Degree (GED) preferred.
CERTIFICATION:
  • BLS / Heartsaver- Satisfactory course completion with current card or ability to complete within 3 months or at the next available course offered by NMRMC.
LANGUAGE ABILITY:
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
MATH ABILITY:
  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages.
REASONING ABILITY:
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding carrying out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
  • Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
COMPUTER SKILLS:
  • To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of word processing, Internet, contact management systems, and spreadsheet software.
