Job description

Position Summary

As an Industrial / Manufacturing Engineer specializing in tube bending, you will design, develop, optimize, and troubleshoot metal tube forming processes using CNC and manual bending equipment. This role focuses on advanced CNC tube-bending expertise while also preparing for and supporting future-state CNC machining programming and operations.

You will drive process improvements, design for manufacturability, and lean manufacturing efforts, with the flexibility to expand into broader industrial engineering competencies, including CNC machining, facility layout, ergonomics, quality systems, logistics, and advanced manufacturing technologies.

A strong understanding of OSHA, ANSI, NFPA, EPA guidelines, lean principles, and Industry 4.0 technologies is essential.

Compensation

Range from $62,848.40-82,644 based off experience, increase possible with bonus structure of up to 7% or more

Agri-Fab, Inc. is an equal-opportunity employer and encourages all qualified candidates to apply.

Key Responsibilities

Design, program, set up, and optimize CNC tube-bending processes (rotary draw bending, ram forming, push bending) while troubleshooting defects such as wrinkling, flattening, or spring-back.

Select specialized tooling, including mandrels (plug and ball), wiper dies, and multi-stack tooling for various bend radii, materials, and wall thicknesses.

Support the future integration and programming of CNC machining operations (mills, lathes, and machining centers) as the role evolves.

Lead continuous improvement initiatives using lean manufacturing principles to enhance efficiency, quality, and cost-effectiveness.

Optimize equipment and workspace layouts for maximum productivity and ergonomics.

Ensure full compliance with safety, environmental, and quality standards while driving safety initiatives.

Provide technical support, mentor operators, develop work instructions, and resolve production issues.

Demonstrate flexibility to take on additional industrial engineering responsibilities as business needs evolve (CNC machining programming, capacity planning, inventory control, logistics, etc.).

Stay current with emerging technologies (mechatronics, additive manufacturing, simulation software, Industry 4.0) and apply them to improve current and future manufacturing processes.

Specialized Focus Areas

o Mandrel Bending: Using internal plug or ball mandrels to prevent flattening on tight-radius bends.

o Wiper Dies: Deploying specialized wiper dies to eliminate wrinkling on thin-walled structural handle tubes.

o Multi-Radius Bending: Utilizing advanced multi-stack CNC machines for complex, continuous multi-radius parts.

o Future State: CNC Machining programming and process development to support expanding manufacturing capabilities.

Qualifications and Skills

Technical Expertise

Strong hands-on experience with CNC tube bending programming, setup, and troubleshooting.

Proficiency in CAD software (SolidWorks, AutoCAD, Inventor).

Experience with CNC bending simulation software.

Familiarity with CNC machining programming (G-code / CAM software) or a strong willingness and ability to develop this skillset rapidly.

Working knowledge of ERP systems (preferably Infor Evolution 12), PLC programming, and HMI systems is a plus.

Strong skills in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook).

Key Competencies

Critical thinking and problem-solving in manufacturing environments.

Excellent verbal and written communication.

Strong time and project management skills.

Adaptability and eagerness to learn new technical areas.

Behavioral Skills

Highly flexible and adaptable to evolving role responsibilities and future-state technologies.

Results-oriented with the ability to balance immediate goals and long-term objectives.

Collaborative team player who builds strong cross-functional relationships.
