Job description

Job Title: Roadside Diesel Mechanic

Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly-skilled and experienced roadside diesel mechanic to join our team. The primary responsibility of this role will be to provide on-site repairs and maintenance for diesel-powered vehicles, including trucks, buses, and heavy equipment. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in diesel engines and the ability to troubleshoot and diagnose complex mechanical issues.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Respond to service calls from drivers who have experienced mechanical issues with their diesel vehicles on the road.
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical problems with diesel engines, fuel systems, transmissions, brakes, and other vehicle components.
  • Perform repairs and maintenance services on-site, including engine rebuilds, transmission replacements, brake repairs, and electrical system troubleshooting.
  • Use diagnostic equipment and software to diagnose and repair complex mechanical problems.
  • Communicate effectively with drivers, dispatchers, and other team members to ensure a seamless repair process.
  • Maintain accurate records of repairs and services performed, including parts used and labor time.
  • Ensure compliance with safety procedures and protocols.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work environment.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Certification or degree in diesel mechanics preferred.
  • At least 3 years of experience in diesel engine repair and maintenance.
  • Experience with diagnostic software and tools.
  • Strong understanding of diesel engine systems, fuel systems, transmissions, brakes, and electrical systems.
  • Ability to work independently and problem-solve on the spot.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and meet tight deadlines.
  • Must have a valid driver's license and a clean driving record.

Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Must be able to stand, kneel, and crouch for extended periods.
  • Must be able to work in varying weather conditions.
