Job description

POSITION: Director of Student Accommodations amp; Thrive
DESCRIPTION: East Texas Baptist University invites applications for the full-time position of Director of Student Accommodations amp; Thrive in the Office of Academic Affairs. This is an administrative/faculty position and includes a partial teaching load in the School of Education. The position begins August 2026. The Student Accommodations and Thrive Coordinator provides leadership for the University's student accommodation services while overseeing the planning, implementation, assessment, and continuous improvement of the Thrive Mentoring Program. This position serves students by coordinating accommodations, overseeing the Thrive mentoring program, and working with faculty and staff to help students access appropriate academic support and resources.
Essential responsibilities include:
  • Provide oversight for Student Accommodation Services, ensuring effective support for students and compliance with applicable federal regulations and University policies.
  • Foster collaborative relationships with faculty, staff, and campus partners to support student success initiatives.
  • Provide leadership for the University's Thrive Mentoring Program including the recruitment, development, supervision, and evaluation of peer mentors.
  • Develop and maintain mentor training materials and program curriculum.
QUALIFICATIONS: ETBU seeks a qualified individual with student support experience. This position requires:
  • Experience supporting students with documented accommodation needs in an academic setting
  • Knowledge of federal laws and regulations governing student accommodations, including the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build relationships across diverse constituencies.
  • Demonstrated attention to detail and ability to manage confidential information.
  • Commitment to teamwork and process management
  • Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills
  • Attention to detail for recording and compiling data and other information
EDUCATION: An earned master’s degree in Education, School Counseling, or related field is required.

Further, as a servant leader and role model for the students of ETBU, employee is required to participate in the life of the University via institutional meetings, Chapel services, prayer emphases, discipleship programming, committee participation, local community ministry/service, and campus activities and events. Employee provides active support of the spiritual, intellectual, and educational ideals, values, activities, and objectives of East Texas Baptist University; and conforms to Christian standards of faith and service.
