Job description

The Bay Pines VA Healthcare System is seeking a Physician (Occupational Medicine / Employee Health / Compensation & Pension) to join our team in Cape Coral, Florida.

Position Overview

This position supports both Employee Health and Compensation & Pension (C&P) services. The physician will perform comprehensive disability evaluations for the Veterans Benefits Administration while also supporting Occupational/Employee Health operations for facility staff. This role focuses on detailed medical evaluations that directly impact Veterans benefits and workforce health and safety.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform detailed C&P examinations, including history, physicals, and focused organ/system exams
  • Review medical records related to disability claims
  • Provide clear, evidence-based medical opinions regarding compensation eligibility
  • Conduct additional exams (state department, insurance, separation exams as needed)
  • Support Employee Health and Occupational Health operations and quality initiatives
  • May supervise trainees or mid-level providers
