Key Responsibilities- Adhere to all Blackhawk Mining safety policies and MSHA regulations
- Participate in daily mining and operational activities under supervision
- Gain working knowledge of production processes, equipment, and personnel management
- Support supervisors and management with reporting, data collection, and operational tasks
- Participate in safety meetings, audits, and incident reviews
- Observe and apply best practices related to productivity, quality, and cost control
- Complete all assigned training, evaluations, and assessments
- Provide feedback on program effectiveness and learning outcomes
Performance Assessments- Progress is closely monitored throughout the program
- At the completion of each rotation:
- The trainee and assigned supervisor will review progress and goal achievement
- Adjustments to future rotations may be made as needed
- Written performance assessments and feedback will be documented
- At program completion:
- The sponsor will complete a final evaluation with a recommendation for placement
- The trainee will complete an overall program assessment
Needs Assessment and PlacementUpon successful completion of the program:
- Management will conduct a needs assessment to identify organizational opportunities
- Placement decisions will be based on:
- Trainee performance
- Organizational needs
- Feedback from supervisors and the trainee
- Initial job assignments will typically be in:
- Production
- Maintenance
- Preparation
- Engineering
- Safety
Required Qualifications- Bachelor's degree in:
- Mining Engineering
- Mechanical Engineering
- Industrial Engineering
- Operations Management
- Geology or related field
- Strong commitment to occupational safety
- Willingness to work varied schedules, including shifts and weekends
- Ability to work in an industrial mining environment
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
Preferred Qualifications- Prior internship or co-op experience in mining or heavy industry
- Basic understanding of coal mining operations or MSHA regulations
- Demonstrated leadership or supervisory experience
Working Conditions & Physical Requirements- Work is performed primarily at mining and processing facilities
- Exposure to outdoor conditions, dust, noise, and heavy equipment
- Ability to wear required personal protective equipment
- Ability to walk, climb, and stand for extended periods
