Occupational health and safety is a field that focuses on reducing the risks workers face on the job, whether it is preventing accidents or minimizing the potential threat of long-term health conditions from things like repetitive tasks. Occupational health and safety specialists and technicians collect data about a work environment and various work procedures. That data is then used by occupational engineers and other designers to develop equipment or practices that help reduce bodily or mental harm to workers and make workplaces safer. Then there are coordinators, who implement and monitor these new standards within a company. The qualifications for employment in the field of occupational health and safety vary depending on the exact position.
