CST OB- Labor and Delivery

Job Summary and Qualifications

Under the direction of the Registered Nurse, the OB Scrub Tech assists the surgical team in delivering direct and indirect care to the patient in the Operating Room, providing quality health care through the development of an organizational climate that is professional, compassionate and responsive to the patient, physicians and associates. In addition, it is the responsibility of the OB Scrub Tech to maintain supplies in the Operating Rooms as well as the LDRs and have those rooms ready for occupation. Whenever necessary, the OBT will function as a Unit Secretary as well as assist with patient care under the direction of the Registered Nurse.

The OB Scrub Tech must possess knowledge, judgment and skills based on the principles of biological, physiological, behavioral and social sciences within the scope of a surgical technologist basic training program. The OB Scrub Tech assists the surgical team in identifying patient needs and plans and initiates interventions for resolution when applicable.

The OB Scrub Tech demonstrates an awareness of patient's rights and works to ensure patient privacy, safety and comfort.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Preparing the surgical suite and organizing instruments, equipment, and supplies to support safe, efficient procedures
  • Assisting with patient positioning, prepping, and draping while maintaining comfort, privacy, and safety
  • Providing instruments, equipment, and hands-on support to the surgical team during obstetric procedures
  • Maintaining a sterile field, performing counts, and ensuring instruments and equipment function properly
  • Working closely with the surgical team to deliver patient-centered care and a seamless surgical experience
What Qualifications You Will Need:
  • Basic Cardiac Life Support must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date
  • (CST) Certified Surgical Technologist, or Work Experience in Lieu of Credential, or Certificate, or Vocational School Graduate
  • Previous experience, as a surgical tech preferred
