Job description

 

We are in search of an Observability Architect to strengthen our Enterprise Technology team and contribute to building our Center of Excellence in Monitoring and Observability domains. As the Observability Architect in ET, you will play a pivotal role in establishing furthering the growth of both the Operational Center of Excellence as well as UWM IT, offering guidance for the evolution and optimization of our Monitoring and Observability toolset, and engaging in technical discussions and requirements analysis with partners and teammates to ensure alignment with the immediate and long term needs of our strategic partners. Partnering with Application Development and Architecture, you will be leading the charge on the standardization and implementation of our continued need for deeper and more comprehensive Observability data.

WHAT WE NEED FROM YOU
  • A Bachelor's degree (in Computer Science or a related field), or equivalent experience.
  • 5+ years of experience in Observability platform development and infrastructure engineering.
  • Proficiency in application monitoring and observability tools such as Prometheus, Grafana, Dynatrace, Splunk, and SQL.
  • Prior experience in guiding the technical direction and implementation of Observability platform implementations, OpenTelemetry, and CI/CD pipelines.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills to effectively engage with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Ability to participate in technical discussions and perform requirements analysis to align solutions with stakeholder requirements.
  • Strong problem-solving capabilities and a creative mindset for designing and implementing innovative solutions.
  • Familiarity with both the operation and monitoring of Virtual Machines and Kubernetes.
  • Familiarity with cloud infrastructure technologies such as Azure or GCP and hybrid environments preferred.
WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING
  • Provide guidance and insights for improving the Monitoring and Observability platforms.
  • Lead technical discussions and requirements analysis with the Business Partnership Teams and development teams to ensure their needs are met.
  • Develop and evangelize best practices for making systems and services measurable, collaborating with various teams for implementation and enablement.
  • Determine best practices for collecting, aggregating, and visualizing collected metrics to enable the Product and Development Teams integrators with actionable insights.
  • Participate in proof-of-concept exercises, engineering initiatives, and implementation projects.
  • Design and collaborate on Managed Services encompassing areas such as log collection and analysis, operational metrics, distributed tracing, and continuous delivery.
