Position: Laborist Physician (OB/GYN - Labor & Delivery)
Location: Renton Area, Washington
Schedule: Full-Time | PermanentOrganization Overview
This role is part of a highly respected, community-based healthcare system serving the greater Renton, Washington region. The organization is recognized for providing comprehensive, patient-centered women's health services and maintains strong clinical ties with a well-known regional medical center.
The women's health program includes full-spectrum obstetric and gynecologic services, advanced perinatal support, 24/7 labor & delivery coverage, and collaborative hospital-based care. The environment emphasizes safety, teamwork, and evidence-based obstetric practice while maintaining access to modern facilities, surgical suites, and experienced nursing teams.
Position Summary
The organization is seeking an experienced Laborist (OB/GYN Physician) to join its growing labor & delivery team in the Renton, WA area.
This full-time, permanent position is focused on inpatient obstetric care, including triage, labor management, deliveries, emergent OB/GYN procedures, and supporting a high-volume L&D unit. The Laborist will collaborate closely with midwives, OB/GYN physicians, residents (if applicable), anesthesiology, and neonatology staff in a supportive, team-oriented environment.

Essential Responsibilities
  • Provide 24/7 inpatient obstetric care through scheduled Laborist shifts
  • Manage labor, perform vaginal deliveries, and assist with cesarean sections
  • Respond to obstetric emergencies, including shoulder dystocia, postpartum hemorrhage, and operative interventions
  • Support triage evaluations and make timely clinical decisions
  • Collaborate with midwives, OB/GYN physicians, anesthesia, pediatrics/NICU, and L&D nursing teams
  • Provide gynecologic urgent care and assist with inpatient consults
  • Ensure accurate and timely EMR documentation
  • Participate in quality initiatives, safety drills, and multidisciplinary meetings
Qualifications
  • Education: MD or DO from an accredited medical school
  • Training: Completion of an ACGME-accredited OB/GYN residency
  • Certification: Board Certified or Board Eligible in Obstetrics & Gynecology
  • Licensure: Eligible for Washington medical licensure
  • Experience: Prior Laborist or high-volume L&D experience strongly preferred (facility not considering new graduates)
  • Skills: Strong clinical judgment, teamwork, and ability to manage obstetric emergencies
