Job Title: Medical Assistant OB-GYN Clinicย 

Employment Classification: Non-Exempt
Reports To: Clinical Operations Manager
Schedule: Full-time | Monday-Thursday: 8:00 AM-4:30 PM | Friday: 8:00 AM-3:30 PM

Position Summary

We are seeking a full-time, experienced and quality driven Medical Assistant to support our team. This position is responsible for ensuring the physician's schedule flows efficiently by preparing for patient visits and assisting the physician during examinations. Following each visit, exam rooms must be thoroughly cleaned and prepared for the next patient. Additionally, specimens must be accurately labeled for laboratory testing and placed in the designated location for collection.

Key Responsiblities

  • Greet and escort patients to the exam area in a timely and courteous manner.ย 
  • Update patient demographics and medical history in the EMR system.ย 
  • Obtain and accurately document vital signs.ย 
  • Record the chief complaint and initiate documentation for the physician.ย 
  • Maintain clear and effective communication with nursing staff and the physician.
  • Monitor the daily schedule and coordinate efficient patient flow.ย 
  • Assist with the collection, labeling, and handling of specimens for laboratory testing.ย 
  • Enter laboratory orders as directed by the physician.ย 
  • Ensure all encounter forms are completed prior to directing patients to the discharge area.
  • Demonstrate flexibility and availability per schedule to support other providers as needed, including coverage during staffing shortages and high patient volume.
  • Maintain exam rooms to ensure they are clean, organized, and fully stocked.ย 
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
  • Understanding of HIPAA and strict adherence to patient confidentiality standards.
  • Must demonstrate punctuality and reliable attendance.

  • Familiarity with obstetric and gynecologic terminology, procedures, and workflows.ย 

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods in an outpatient OB-GYN setting.ย 
  • Ability to bend, stoop, and reach as needed during patient care.ย 
  • Ability to assist patients during exams and procedures.ย 
  • Ability to safely lift or move equipment (up to 25-50 pounds) using proper body mechanics.ย 
  • Visual and auditory acuity sufficient to assess patients and communicate effectively.ย 
  • Adherence to standard safety, infection control, and personal protective equipment (PPE) protocols.
