WHAT THIS ROLE WILL DO

  • The S-95 Security Guard is responsible for the continuous monitoring of the venue's fire alarm control panel and ensuring the safety of all guests, staff, and performers. This role serves as the primary liaison between the venue and the FDNY during fire-related incidents, ensuring that all Fire Department Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) are strictly followed.

WHAT THIS PERSON WILL BRING

  • Fire Alarm Monitoring:Maintain a stationary post at the Fire Alarm Control Panel (FACP). Correctly interpret signals (Alarm, Supervisory, and Trouble) and follow the established notification chain.

  • Incident Management:In the event of an alarm, immediately initiate the venue's emergency response plan in accordance with theIncident Command System (ICS).

  • Inspections & Compliance:Conduct regular walkthroughs to ensure fire extinguishers, manual pull stations, and egress paths are unobstructed and compliant with NYC Fire Code.

  • Log Maintenance:Maintain the legally mandated Fire Safety Logbook, documenting all system tests, activations, and daily inspections with 100% accuracy.

  • Interagency Coordination:Assist the NYPD and FDNY during building inspections or emergency responses, providing clear and accurate information regarding the building's fire status.

  • Communication:Utilize radio protocols to alert leadership (AGM/Security Manager) of any system impairments or safety hazards.

Required:

  • Certification:Must possess a validFDNY S-95 Certificate of Fitness(Supervision of Fire Alarm Systems).

  • Licensing:Valid New York State Security Guard License.

  • Experience:2+ years of security experience in a high-occupancy NYC Assembly space (Concert Hall, Theater, or Arena).

  • Technical Knowledge:Deep understanding of the Fire Alarm Control Panel operations and the ability to distinguish between smoke detector activations and water flow alarms.

  • Focus:Exceptional attention to detail and the ability to remain calm and authoritative during emergency evacuations.

Physical Demands/Working Environment:

  • Working environment is fast-paced, often loud and stressful

  • Position requires extended periods of prolonged standing and working on your feet

  • Must be able to lift or move up to 25 lbs using proper lifting techniques
