The Client Forum opened in late 1028 and hosts sporting events and concerts. Since 1968, Milwaukee has been home to Summerfest, one of the largest music festivals in the world. With regard to education, Milwaukee is home to UW-Milwaukee and Marquette University. The city is home to two major professional sports teams, the Bucks and the Brewers. About the Facility - Milwaukee VAMC
The Clement J. Zablocki VA Medical Center is located on 245 acres on the western edge of Milwaukee and part of VA Integrated Services Network 12 (VISN 12), which includes facilities in Iron Mountain, Michigan; Tomah and Madison, Wisconsin, and North Chicago, Hines and Chicago in Illinois. The Medical Center delivers primary, secondary, and tertiary medical care in 196 hospital beds, and provides more than 857,000 visits annually through an extensive outpatient program. The nursing home care unit of 113 beds offers geriatric programming and the 150 domiciliary beds are the focus of programs in Substance Abuse Rehabilitation, Psychiatric Rehabilitation and Post Traumatic Stress Disorder care.

Cardiothoracic PA RESPONSIBILITIES (listed are included but not limited to)
  • Will assist in the operating room as the first or second surgical assistant to the resident or staff physician to help open and close all incisions pertinent to CT surgery, harvest veins and other duties as directed.
  • In an emergency, pending the arrival of a physician, the CTPA may perform emergency care within their Scope of Practice and according to the Milwaukee VAMC policies and procedures. The CTPA may perform any procedure; administer or order any medications that would normally be ordered; order any emergency resuscitative drugs required during an attempted Code procedure until a senior staff physician or resident physician is present; and perform CPR and assist in any capacity, including medical resuscitation or surgical operative resuscitation in accordance with current Cardio-Pulmonary Resuscitation standards, required by the physician at hand. The CTPA shall also perform Basic Life Support.
  • Patient treatment documentation to any/all clinical records will occur immediately following the procedure and may include documenting in the patient's electronic medical record.
  • Comply with appropriate and applicable policies, procedures, rules, and regulations of Milwaukee VAMC. Examples include narcotic control and use, personnel policies, infection control, and medical records.
  • The CTPA shall be physically present in the facility to perform the required services as specified in the task order. All patient encounters are entered into the VA electronic health record and shall provide documentation of workload.
Cardiothoracic Physician Assistant REQUIREMENTS
  • ny state license honored.
  • Must be NCCPA certified.
  • Must have Basic Life Support Certification (ACLS is preferred but not required).
  • Must have a minimum of one year of experience performing as a first or second assist to residents or staff physicians.
