About the Role
The NVH Co-Op will support the North America Application Engineering team's Brake NVH group, working directly under a Sr. NVH Application Engineer. This role provides hands-on exposure to brake noise and vibration testing, material data management, and cross-functional product development - supporting day-to-day engineering activities while contributing to innovation projects.
What You'll Do
• Perform Frequency Response Function (FRF) measurements on brake components in support of modal characterization and squeal investigations.
• Conduct SAE J3001 testing and assist with test setup, data collection, and post-processing.
• Update and manage WAM material data sheets, ensuring accuracy and version control across the material library.
• Support Application Engineers with day-to-day testing, data analysis, and program deliverables.
• Prepare NVH testing summaries and reports for internal review and customer-facing documentation.
• Contribute to innovation and new product development projects, including testing of new shim and damping material concepts.
Qualifications
• Currently pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree in mechanical engineering or a related field.
• Interest in NVH, acoustics, vibration, or structural dynamics; prior coursework or project experience a plus.
• Basic proficiency with Microsoft Excel and Office; exposure to data acquisition or signal-processing software (e.g., LMS, MATLAB) is a plus.
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
• Good written and verbal communication skills; comfortable working with engineers across a mixed-seniority team.
• Ability to work on-site in a lab and test-cell environment.
Physical Requirements
• Ability to stand or sit for extended periods depending on test activity.
• Ability to move between lab, test cell, and office areas.
• Capacity to bend, reach, and crouch to set up test fixtures and equipment.
• Must be able to occasionally lift up to 25 lbs (test fixtures, brake components).
