How much do nursing program manager jobs pay per year?
What is the difference between Nursing Program Manager vs Nursing Supervisor?
| Aspect | Nursing Program Manager | Nursing Supervisor |
|---|---|---|
| Credentials | RN license, often with management or leadership certifications | RN license, typically without advanced management certifications |
| Work Environment | Educational institutions, healthcare organizations, or training programs | Hospitals, clinics, or healthcare facilities overseeing nursing staff |
| Primary Focus | Developing, implementing, and managing nursing education programs | Supervising nursing staff, ensuring quality patient care, and staff management |
The main difference between a Nursing Program Manager and a Nursing Supervisor lies in their focus and responsibilities. Nursing Program Managers primarily handle the development and administration of nursing education programs, often working in academic or training settings. Nursing Supervisors, on the other hand, oversee nursing staff directly in clinical settings, focusing on patient care and staff management. Both roles require RN licensure, but their work environments and core duties differ significantly.

- Serves as the primary operational liaison with managed care plan partners; leads Gracelight's participation in plan audits, reporting, contract reviews, and performance improvement activities.
- Develops and sustains referral relationships with community-based organizations, housing providers, shelters, hospitals, and social service agencies to support patient access and care continuity.
- Identifies opportunities to improve, expand, or innovate program services; supports development and implementation of new initiatives as the program grows.
- Prepares program reports, dashboards, and briefings for organizational leadership.
- Supports regulatory reviews, contract compliance activities, and organizational audits as needed.
- Maintains confidentiality of patient and organizational information in accordance with HIPAA and organizational policy.
