What is a nursing internship?

A nursing internship is a temporary, hands-on clinical experience designed for nursing students or recent graduates to gain practical skills in a healthcare setting. Interns work under the supervision of licensed nurses and healthcare professionals, assisting with patient care, medical procedures, and administrative tasks. These internships provide valuable real-world exposure, helping aspiring nurses build confidence and competence before entering the workforce.

What can I expect from the mentorship and training provided during a nursing internship?

Nursing internships generally offer close mentorship from experienced registered nurses or nurse educators, providing direct guidance as you perform clinical tasks and patient care. You can expect structured training that includes shadowing professionals, hands-on experience with various procedures, and regular feedback on your performance. Many programs include orientation sessions, educational workshops, and opportunities to participate in interdisciplinary team meetings. This supportive learning environment is designed to help you build confidence, reinforce classroom knowledge, and develop practical skills essential for a successful nursing career.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive in a nursing internship, and why are they important?

To thrive in Nursing Internships, you need foundational clinical skills, basic patient care knowledge, and current enrollment in or recent graduation from an accredited nursing program. Familiarity with electronic health records (EHRs), standard medical equipment, and infection control protocols is typically expected. Together, these skills support safe, effective patient care and provide valuable hands-on learning for aspiring nurses.

What does a nursing internship do?

Interns develop skills in patient care, communication, and medical procedures, often working alongside licensed nurses and healthcare professionals to prepare for licensure and future employment.

What internships can nursing students do?

Nursing students can pursue internships such as clinical rotations, externships, or summer programs in hospitals, clinics, or community health settings. About Steel Dynamics

Sourced by ZipRecruiter

Steel Dynamics is one of the largest and most diversified domestic steel producers and metals recyclers in the United States, with an estimated steelmaking and coating capacity of approximately 13 million tons, and facilities located throughout the United States and in Mexico. We operate using a circular manufacturing model, producing lower-carbon-emission, quality steel using electric arc furnace (EAF) technology with recycled ferrous scrap as the primary input. Our circular economy is powered by our three primary operating platforms: steel, metals recycling, and steel fabrication. Our steel operations produce steel products, including hot roll, cold roll, and coated sheet steel, structural steel beams and shapes, rail, engineered special-bar-quality steel, cold finished steel, merchant bar products, and specialty steel sections. Our metals recycling operations collect and process ferrous and nonferrous scrap from manufacturing and end-of-life items, such as automobiles, appliances, and machinery. This processed scrap is then sold to end-users for reuse, including our EAF steel mills, which produce new steel from the scrapped material. We sell a meaningful amount of steel to our own steel fabrication operations that in turn produce and sell structural steel joist and deck building systems to consumers.
