Job description

  • POSITION STANDARDS
    • Min Quals:
      • Minimum 2 years of experience preferred.
      • Proficiency in a variety of anesthesia techniques, including regional blocks.
      • Ability to work independently in a fast-paced clinical setting.
      • Degree from an accredited nurse anesthesia education program.
      • Obtain a New Hampshire RN and APRN License.
      • Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA) from New Hampshire Board of Nursing.
      • Current certification or recertification from AANA Council on Certification of Nurse Anesthetists or its predecessor.
      • Current BCLS
      • Current ACLS
      • Current PALS

  • PART TWO: FUNCTIONAL RESPONSIBILITY
    • Position Objective
    • Performance Expectation
      • Administers anesthesia and blocks for surgical procedures and endoscopic procedures when needed for a given procedure or operation;
      • Accompanies patient to Post Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) and remains until patient's immediate condition warrants leaving them with PACU personnel;
      • Performs narcotic count;
      • Does pre- and post-anesthesia patient visits; Writes post-anesthesia note on designated anesthesia record in EMR;
      • Responds to patient resuscitation calls when able and when it is not at the detriment of a patient currently under their care;
      • Ensures that all patient inquiries are answered with courtesy and promptness;
      • offers assistance to staff, as appropriate and within scope of practice;
      • Consistently found assisting patients/families and other visitors, always ensuring all interactions with APD create a positive reflection on our facility;
      • Promotes a warm and welcoming environment, in and outside of home department and role;
      • Offers ideas for improving the patient/family experience;
      • Proactively addressing potential concerns/questions;
      • Incorporates patient, family, and caregiver as defined by the patient and other team members when planning service delivery;
      • Demonstrates behavior that creates an atmosphere of respect for human differences, beliefs, values and the uniqueness of each person encountered;
      • Partners with patients and families to allow for effective decisions and participation in care;
      • Demonstrates safe behaviors by following and coaching others in regard to safety practices, procedures, and using required Personal Protective Equipment (gloves, masks, etc.);
      • Fosters a safe work environment by eliminating or reporting hazards;
      • Reports incidents in a timely manner;
      • Follows infection prevention control policies and procedures, for the protection of oneself and others;
      • Adheres to hand hygiene procedures and expectations;
      • Adheres to Hospital Policies, Procedures, and Code of Conduct, including all IS specific policies and procedures, which prohibit the use of our Information System for any use other than the sole purpose of completing work related tasks;
      • Maintains strict confidentiality of all patient and business information;
      • Accesses only the information needed with the sole purpose of completing work related activities;
      • Is respectful and trustworthy of others throughout the organization;
      • Is committed to organization-wide professional and personal development in reaching APD's goals;
      • Communicates effectively with others;
      • Makes decisions based on best practices and evidence-based information;
      • Completes competency skill checklists and mandatory education/certification programs and other mandatory documentation;
      • Enhances professional growth through participation in educational programs and workshops;
      • Maintains active membership in good standing on the APD Medical Staff in the Department of Surgery as per the APD Medical Staff Bylaws and the APD Medical Staff Rules and Regulations;
      • Able to articulate department and institutional quality goals and initiatives;
      • Demonstrates fiscal responsibility and good stewardship of resources;
      • Actively involved in quality and process improvement initiatives in the department and/or organization.
