Responsibilities

The staff nurse delivers comprehensive nursing care to patients across all stages of life, employing nursing processes to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care. This role operates within the organization's established policies and procedures, showcasing professional development and accountability. The staff nurse is tasked with upholding practice standards and coordinating the patient care activities of all assigned personnel to ensure high-quality nursing services.

QualificationsEducation
  • Graduation from an accredited nursing program is required.
  • A Bachelor’s Degree is preferred.
Work Experience
  • No prior experience is necessary; new graduates from nursing programs are eligible.
  • Experience in a hospital environment is preferred.
  • For PRN positions, at least one year of hospital experience is required.
Licenses and Certifications
  • Current RN - Registered Nurse license in Georgia or NLC/eNLC multistate license is required.
  • BCLS - Basic Life Support certification is required.
Additional Licenses and Certifications
  • Advanced certification in a relevant specialty area, if applicable (refer to addendum).
Addendum
  • Cardiac Tele: ACLS Certification is required (Nurse Residents or new nurses in this specialty must complete certifications within 180 days of starting).
  • Critical Care: ACLS Certification is required (Nurse Residents or new nurses in this specialty must complete certifications within 180 days of starting).
  • Dialysis: CDN (Certified Dialysis Certificate) is preferred.
  • Emergency Department: ACLS and PALS Certifications are required (Nurse Residents or new nurses in this specialty must complete certifications within 180 days of starting; experienced Emergency Department nurses have 6 months to obtain PALS certification).
  • Infusion/Oncology: Chemotherapy/Biotherapy Certification must be obtained prior to independent chemotherapy administration upon hire.
  • Pediatrics: Must identify, report, and implement protective measures for high-risk situations, including abuse or neglect. PALS Certification is required at specific locations (Nurse Residents or new nurses in this specialty must complete certifications within 180 days of starting).
  • Surgical Services: ACLS Certification is required for PreOp/PACU/ENDO/CSU; PALS is required if the unit cares for pediatric patients (Nurse Residents or new nurses in this specialty must complete certifications within 180 days of starting). BLS is required for OR positions.
  • Women’s Services: Labor and Delivery requires ACLS Certification (Nurse Residents or new nurses in this specialty must complete certifications within 180 days of starting), along with NRP by the end of the orientation period. Other areas like Mother/Baby, NICU, NAT, and Nursery also require NRP by the end of the orientation period.
