What is a nurse surveyor?

Nurse Surveyors are registered nurses who evaluate healthcare facilities to ensure compliance with regulations and quality standards. They conduct inspections, review policies and procedures, and interview staff and patients to assess care delivery. Nurse Surveyors play a vital role in maintaining patient safety and helping facilities prepare for accreditation. Their work helps identify areas for improvement and ensures that healthcare organizations meet federal, state, or accreditation standards.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a nurse surveyor, and why are they important?
