Job description

At Netflix, our mission is to entertain the world. Together, we partner with creators as they experiment with a range of cutting-edge tools that bridge innovation with imaginative storytelling. Come join Inkubator to shape what's next and explore the creative possibilities.

Position Summary

We are seeking Compositors to join our pioneering team creating animated shorts and specials using experimental GenAI-native production pipelines. This role will bring together generative outputs, CG renders, 2D elements, and liveaction or capture-based sources into polished, cohesive shots, while working in a fast-paced, sprint-based environment. This role will help support show-specific workflow and technical needs as we aim to develop feature-quality content in a creator-led environment.

Working in Nuke (and adjacent tools), this role will be responsible for creating highquality, stylized composites that support filmmakers' storytelling and visual aesthetics, as well as supporting show-specific workflow and technical needs as we aim to develop feature-quality content in a creator-led environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Create final composites by integrating GenAI outputs, CG renders, 2D elements, and other sources into visually cohesive, story-driven shots.

  • Collaborate closely with Filmmakers, CG Artists, and other Compositors to establish and maintain the visual look and style of each project.

  • Apply a strong understanding of light, shadow, color, shape and composition to solve design and effects challenges, particularly in stylized animation imagery.

  • Work within traditional, GenAI, and hybrid workflows, compositing elements created via generative tools alongside assets from traditional DCCs (e.g., Photoshop, Maya, Houdini, Harmony, Blender, Unreal).

  • Receive and incorporate feedback quickly and thoughtfully, maintaining consistency with creative direction, production guidelines, and sprint timelines.

  • Ensure shots are delivered to the highest standard and on schedule through effective teamwork and problem-solving skills

  • Be adept at troubleshooting complex compositing scripts and escalating issues as needed

  • Utilize core compositing skills, including but not limited to, keying, tracking, color correction, relighting, depth of field, retiming, warping, and photographic optical effects.

  • Contribute to look development and experimentation, helping to push new approaches to blending generative imagery with traditional renders and footage.

  • Document and share techniques, node setups, and workflows, helping the team refine best practices for GenAI/traditional hybrid compositing.

  • Build workflows, templates, and scripts as needed.

  • Help foster a collaborative, inclusive, and exploratory team environment.

Qualifications
  • 2+ years of compositing experience in animation, VFX, games, or digital media (feature, episodic, or high-end shortform); experience with stylized or nonphotoreal work is a plus.

  • Intermediate to advanced Nuke skills and strong knowledge of compositing workflows.

  • General understanding of 3D computer graphics, including modeling, lighting, rendering, and animation, and how these passes integrate in comp.

  • Familiarity or strong interest in Generative AI imagery and video, and openness to working in rapidly evolving, experimental pipelines.

  • Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to deliver high-quality work on schedule in a sprint-based environment.

  • Ability to take direction positively, collaborate across disciplines, and communicate clearly with creative, technical, and production partners.

  • High level of independence, out-of-the-box application, and initiative, as production support structures and workflows will be evolving alongside the creative process.

  • Preferred, not required:

    • Traditional art, photography, or film background.

    • Experience with Python, BlinkScript, or similar for tool development or pipeline integration.

    • Experience with Nuke particles, deep compositing, or advanced effects.

    • Experience compositing for real-time/engine-based workflows (e.g., Unreal) or integrating AI-generated elements into traditional comps.
