Basic Job Functions:
Nucor Steel-Jackson is seeking a Melt Shop Maintenance Mechanic who will promote safety as our #1 value while ensuring consistency and reliability in Melt Shop operations.
  • The Maintenance Mechanic will be part of the team responsible for the maintenance, reliability, improvement, and upgrades of equipment.
  • The Maintenance Mechanic will work closely with the production teams and other members of the maintenance team and shall be capable of covering maintenance issues on shift and/or days as a mechanic.
  • Coordinate with operations, maintenance supervisor, and other departments to schedule maintenance activities.
  • Be willing to take the necessary training to stay up to date with the EBS software.
  • Be willing to work more than scheduled time, weekends, and holidays if needed.

Safety is the most important part of all jobs within Nucor; therefore, candidates must be able to demonstrate the ability to initiate, lead, and uphold safety policies, practices, procedures, and housekeeping standards at all times.
Minimum Qualifications:
  • 2 Years experience in Steel Mill Maintenance
  • Ability to work rotating shifts, overtime, weekends, and holidays as needed
  • High School Diploma or equivalent

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Knowledgeable in pipe fitting, coupling alignment, pneumatics, hudraulics, welding, machine tool
  • Certification in Insdustrial Maintenance
  • Certification in Welding
  • Computer Skills
  • Demonstrate Leadership abilities
