Job Summary
Project estimators play a pivotal role in predicting costs related to nuclear projects. Their primary duty involves analysis of project specifications, technical drawings and design documentation to accuratelydetermine theexpenses and timescales associated with nuclear implementation/construction and maintenance projects. The role of an estimator is critical in ensuring that nuclear projects adhere to budgetary and scheduling constraints whilemaintainingstringent safety and quality standards.Job Description
Key Accountabilities
- Project Analysis: They analyze nuclear project drawings, specifications and design/technical documentation to understand the project's scope and requirements while adhering to the industry's regulatory requirements.
- Accurate Cost Forecasting: Utilizing specialist cost estimation software and techniques, they forecast material, consumables, labor, equipment, fees and overhead costs associated with the project.
- Quality Documentation: Estimator documents details, bases, and key assumptions associated with the cost estimate.
- Fleet Estimating: Provide estimates for nuclear projects across the fleet - supporting both Pressurized and Boiling Water Reactor facilities (PWR/BWR).
- Cost Estimate Re-evaluating: Re-evaluate cost estimates during the Long Range Planning (LRP) process for future years out.
- Supplier and Vendor Interaction: Estimators research and obtain quotes from suppliers, subcontractors and vendors to inform their cost assessments. Additionally provides governance and oversight of cost estimates for accuracy.
- Collaboration for Refinement: They work closely with engineers, project managers, safety staff and regulatory compliance to refine project estimates and ensure alignment with industry standards and legal requirements.
- Stakeholder Communication: Estimators present detailed cost estimates to the project team, site stakeholders/management.
