Laborer - Nuclear
EnergySolutions is hiring nuclear laborers for the fall outage season!
A laborer is responsible for performing various tasks including housekeeping functions, escort duties, fire-watch, toolroom management, foreign material exclusion, and confined space duties. Must be able to obtain nuclear unescorted access, including meeting fitness for duty requirements.
Essential Functions:
  • Perform all job duties safely according to job requirements.
  • Proper care and use of hand tools.
  • Handle building materials and tools.
  • Maintain a clean work area and ensure good housekeeping.
  • Flag traffic as needed.
  • Assist in maintaining project roads, parking areas, and walkways.
  • Rope off unauthorized areas used by labor/utility craft.
  • Perform dewatering operations.
  • Perform fire watch duties.
  • Distribute portable drinking water as required.
  • Perform general cleanup of tools, equipment, materials, and work area.
  • Transport supplies and equipment.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
  • Keeping detailed logs
  • Must be detail oriented
Required Education and Experience:
  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • 3+ years of experience.
  • Prior nuclear power plant experience, highly desired.
  • Must be able to obtain nuclear unescorted access, including fitness for duty requirements.
  • Successful completion of all training including, Radiation Worker Training, Plant Access Training, Fitness for Duty, etc.
  • Ability to understand and carry out written and oral instructions.
  • Ability to assemble and disassemble objects and operate small equipment and power tools.
  • Availability for shift work, if needed.
  • Ability to support other crafts as requested.
  • Ability to work at varying heights, in cramped quarters, extreme heat and/or cold, and loud environments (above 89 decibels).
  • Knowledge of relevant processes and procedures.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain knowledge of technical manuals and procedures.
  • Ability to pass specific training and qualifications.
  • Willingness to work overtime, including shift work, weekends, and holidays as needed.
  • Ability to pass all background and screening requirements, including drug and/or alcohol screening.
Physical Demands:
  • Visual acuity, balancing, stooping, reaching, walking, manual dexterity, grasping, feeling, hearing, talking.
  • Capacity to think, concentrate, and focus for long periods.
  • Ability to read and write complex documents in English.
  • Capacity to reason and make sound decisions.
  • Ability to express thoughts orally.
  • Strategic thinking and planning for growth.
  • Ability to walk job sites and climb.
  • Ability to lift a minimum of 50 lbs.
