Instrument Fitters (Tube Benders)
EnergySolutions is hiring Nuclear Instrument Fitters for a project at McGuire Nuclear Plant in North Carolina.
We are seeking a highly skilled Nuclear Instrument Fitter (Tube Bender) to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for precision tube bending, installation, and maintenance of nuclear instrumentation systems. This role requires strict adherence to nuclear safety standards, quality assurance protocols, and regulatory compliance.
? Key Responsibilities
  • Tube bending and fitting: Fabricate, bend, and install tubing for nuclear instrumentation systems with high accuracy.
  • Instrumentation installation: Assemble and fit components including valves, gauges, sensors, and control devices.
  • System maintenance: Perform routine inspections, troubleshooting, and repairs to ensure optimal system performance.
  • Compliance and safety: Follow nuclear industry codes, standards, and site-specific safety procedures.
  • Documentation: Maintain accurate records of work performed, inspections, and modifications.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with engineers, supervisors, and other trades to meet project requirements.

? Qualifications
  • Minimum 3 years of tube bending/fitting experience in industrial or nuclear environments.
  • Previous nuclear industry experience is mandatory.
  • Strong knowledge of nuclear safety standards and quality assurance practices.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, schematics, and piping diagrams.
  • Proficiency with tube bending tools, measuring instruments, and precision equipment.
  • Excellent attention to detail and commitment to safety.

? Preferred Skills
  • Certification in Instrument Fitting (i.e. NCCER, EPRI, or equivalent).
  • Experience with stainless steel and exotic alloys used in nuclear applications.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work under pressure.
  • Team-oriented mind set with effective communication skills
  • Maintain a clean work area and ensure good housekeeping.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned. Required Education and Experience:
  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • 3+ years of experience.
  • Prior nuclear power plant experience, highly desired.
  • Must be able to obtain nuclear unescorted access, including fitness for duty requirements.
  • Successful completion of all training including, Radiation Worker Training, Plant Access Training, Fitness for Duty, etc.
  • Ability to understand and carry out written and oral instructions.
  • Ability to assemble and disassemble objects and operate small equipment and power tools.
  • Availability for shift work, if needed.
  • Ability to support other crafts as requested.
  • Ability to work at varying heights, in cramped quarters, extreme heat and/or cold, and loud environments (above 89 decibels).
  • Knowledge of relevant processes and procedures.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain knowledge of technical manuals and procedures.
  • Ability to pass specific training and qualifications.
  • Willingness to work overtime, including shift work, weekends, and holidays as needed.
  • Ability to pass all background and screening requirements, including drug and/or alcohol screening.
