Full-time

Re-posted 12 days ago

Job description

Bruce Power is advancing Ontario's clean energy future and medical isotope innovation. From safely delivering clean, reliable power to families and businesses across the province and cancer-fighting medical isotopes around the world to supporting challenging and innovative nuclear projects like our multi-year Life Extension Program. Supporting this work onsite offers interesting and impactful opportunities.

We are seeking Project Managers and Project Leads for contract opportunities at the Bruce Power site through a contract partner. These dynamic opportunities require individuals who thrive in a fast paced and integrated team environment.

Please apply if you are interested in an opportunity to work collaboratively while supporting various work programs for the following role.

  • Project Manager
  • Project Lead

The Project Manager leads large-scale, complex projects-such as nuclear refurbishment or infrastructure improvements-from initiation to completion over several years. The role ensures projects are delivered on time, within scope, and under budget while balancing safety, quality, schedule, and cost. Collaboration with cross-functional teams, stakeholders, and contractors is key to successful execution.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Project Planning:
    • Define project scope, objectives, deliverables, and timelines in collaboration with stakeholders.
    • Create detailed plans covering risks, resources, and budgets.
    • Set milestones and performance benchmarks.
  • Team Leadership:
    • Build and lead cross-functional teams; assign roles and ensure collaboration.
    • Assign roles and responsibilities to ensure efficient project execution.
    • Ensure projects are in compliance with applicable procedures for nuclear, conventional, personnel and environmental safety.
    • May act as Contract Manager.
  • Project Execution:
    • Ensure project is fully integrated into associated work management schedules (online, outage & MCR).
    • Direct and monitor execution; update schedules and track performance.
    • Report delays and changes impacting the project.
    • Lead and develop the project team to meet execution goals.
  • Stakeholder Engagement:
    • Act as primary point of contact for projects; provide regular progress updates and address stakeholder concerns.
    • Ensure alignment between project goals and stakeholder expectations.
  • Risk Management:
    • Identify potential project risks, challenges, and bottlenecks; develop mitigation strategies and contingency plans.
    • Monitor and manage compliance with legal, environmental, and safety regulations.
  • Budget and Financial Management:
    • Develop and manage project budgets, ensuring cost-effectiveness and resource optimization.
    • Monitor financial performance and variances.
    • Review and approve invoices, change orders, and procurement contracts.
  • Quality Assurance:
    • Ensure project deliverables meet quality standards; conduct regular site visits to monitor construction progress and resolve issues.
    • Oversee commissioning and handover process.
  • Project Closure:
    • Perform post-project evaluations; document lessons learned.
    • Ensure contractual obligations are met and maintain project documentation for future reference.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related technical field, or equivalent education/experience.
  • 5-10 years progressive management experience, including 3-5 years in project management; lesser experience may be considered depending upon needs.
  • Familiarity with PMI Project Management Body of Knowledge (PMBOK); certification by the Project Management Institute (PMI) as a Project or Program Management Professional (PMP, PgMP) considered an asset.
  • Strong knowledge of Earned Value Management and Change Management.
  • Business acumen in capital project planning and estimating.
  • Excellent analytical and organizational skills; ability to adapt to a highly technical project environment.
  • Skilled in managing stakeholder interests and conflicting priorities.
  • Proficient with project management tools: Primavera P6, Eco Sys, Active Risk Manager (ARM), and Microsoft suite of tools (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, Power BI); quick to learn new tools and technologies.

The Project Lead provides hands-on leadership and coordination to deliver assigned projects or project packages in a regulated, safety-critical environment. Working under the overall accountability of the Project Manager, the role leads defined execution, coordinates multidisciplinary teams, and provides recommendations on scope, schedule, cost, risk, and execution.

The role may act on behalf of the Project Manager for defined activities or periods, ensuring alignment with approved project direction and governance. The Project Lead plays a key leadership role within the project team, supporting disciplined execution, issue resolution, and continuous improvement without full project accountability.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead assigned scopes of work, work packages, or project phases in alignment of overall project objectives.
  • Provide day-to-day leadership to project team members, contractors, and partners, fostering accountability, safety, quality, and collaboration.
  • Support the Project Manager with analysis and recommendations on scope, schedule, cost, risk, and execution strategies.
  • Act as the Project Manager as delegated for meetings, coordination, or short-term coverage.
