A Nuclear Civil Engineer designs, constructs, and maintains structures and systems for nuclear power plants, research facilities, and waste storage sites. Seeking a Civil Engineer II to support the North Anna Subsequent License Renewal (SLR) project, a long-term initiative aimed at extending the plant’s operational life to 80 years through major system upgrades and infrastructure modernization. This role will focus on civil/structural engineering design, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards and supporting integrated solutions across mechanical, electrical, and regulatory disciplines.
Design and analyze steel and concrete structures/components (pipe and conduit supports, junction box supports, foundations, etc.).
Apply seismic analysis and design principles for mounting components and equipment.
Ensure designs comply with industrial standards (ACI, ASCE, ASME, lifting and rigging codes).
Collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams and communicate technical concepts to stakeholders.
Prepare and review engineering calculations and documentation using software tools (Mathcad, GTSTRUDL, STADD, ANSYS, Excel, Matlab).
Identify design risks, propose improvements, and support field implementation teams.
Maintain high standards of documentation rigor for nuclear safety and compliance.
Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering.
2–5 years of relevant experience.
Experience with steel and concrete structural design.
Familiarity with industrial standards (ACI, ASCE, ASME) and seismic design principles.
