Job description

Job Title: Civil Engineer
Location: Mineral, VA 23117 (Local preferred; hybrid remote negotiable)
Type: Contract (3+ years)
Schedule: 4x10’s (40 hours/week; OT required during outages)
Per Diem for Non-Local Candidates: $100/day or $700/week


About the Role

Seeking a Civil Engineer II to support the North Anna Subsequent License Renewal (SLR) project, a long-term initiative aimed at extending the plant’s operational life to 80 years through major system upgrades and infrastructure modernization. This role will focus on civil/structural engineering design, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards and supporting integrated solutions across mechanical, electrical, and regulatory disciplines.


Key Responsibilities
  • Design and analyze steel and concrete structures/components (pipe and conduit supports, junction box supports, foundations, etc.).

  • Apply seismic analysis and design principles for mounting components and equipment.

  • Ensure designs comply with industrial standards (ACI, ASCE, ASME, lifting and rigging codes).

  • Collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams and communicate technical concepts to stakeholders.

  • Prepare and review engineering calculations and documentation using software tools (Mathcad, GTSTRUDL, STADD, ANSYS, Excel, Matlab).

  • Identify design risks, propose improvements, and support field implementation teams.

  • Maintain high standards of documentation rigor for nuclear safety and compliance.


Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering.

  • 2–5 years of relevant experience.

  • Experience with steel and concrete structural design.

  • Familiarity with industrial standards (ACI, ASCE, ASME) and seismic design principles.
