Job Summary:
The Road Mechanic is responsible for the assembly, maintenance, and repair of NASCAR Truck Series (NTS) race vehicle, ensuring they are race-ready for all on-track activities. This role supports both the garage and trackside operations, performing mechanical work, assisting with vehicle setup, and addressing any issues that arise during transport, practice, qualifying, or race events. The Road Mechanic works closely with engineers, crew chiefs, and other team members to maintain high standards of performance, safety, and reliability.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
  • None

Duties/Responsibilities:
  • Assemble, disassemble, and maintain race vehicle components including driveline, suspension, brakes, fuel systems, and chassis
  • Inspect vehicles and parts to identify wear, damage, or potential failure and perform necessary repairs
  • Adjust car setup according to engineering guidance and track conditions
  • Assist with loading, unloading, and transporting cars and equipment to race venues
  • Support pit crew operations during practice, qualifying, and races as required
  • Perform routine maintenance and preventive checks on all race vehicle systems
  • Maintain accurate documentation of repairs, maintenance, and inventory of parts
  • Troubleshoot mechanical and hydraulic systems under time-sensitive conditions
  • Operate hand tools, power tools, and shop equipment safely and efficiently
  • Ensure all work complies with NASCAR safety regulations and team standards
  • Collaborate with engineers and other mechanics to optimize vehicle performance
  • Assist with post-race teardown, cleaning, and preparation of trucks for transport

Required Skills/Abilities:
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and experience with high-performance vehicles or motorsports
  • Proficiency in using hand tools, power tools, and measurement instruments
  • Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, blueprints, and schematics
  • Strong problem-solving skills under pressure
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, physically demanding environment
  • Effective communication and teamwork skills
  • Attention to detail and commitment to safety standards

Education and Experience:
  • High School Diploma or GED required; technical or vocational training in automotive or mechanical fields preferred
  • 3-5 year previous motorsports experience or work on high-performance vehicles preferred
  • Familiarity with NASCAR Cup Series vehicles, components, and regulations is a plus

Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to lift and carry 50+ pounds, push/pull equipment, and perform physically demanding tasks
  • Prolonged standing, bending, kneeling, and crouching
  • Comfortable working in loud, high-pressure environments
  • Willingness to travel extensively during the race season
