Job description

Under the direction of the Staff Nurse II, Team Leader or Manager of Patient Care Services, the Staff Nurse I provides direct care to patients using the nursing process of assessment: planning, implementation and evaluation, so that the physical, psycho-social, safety, rehabilitative and learning needs of patients and their families are addressed. This function is performed in association with nursing peers and co-workers, attending physicians and allied support services. This position is responsible for managing care of assigned patients and directing the activities of the ancillary staff.

Med/Surg & ICU-SCU Unit: The Staff RN competently uses the nursing process, medical therapeutics, and technological and personal interventions to accomplish this. Actively participates in hospital quality assurance/improvement, risk management, clinical operations and customer service excellence. Post Anesthesia Care Unit: The Post Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) Staff Nurse II provides direct care to surgical patients, with primary emphasis on the immediate postoperative period.

The PACU Staff Nurse competently uses the nursing process, medical therapeutics, and technological and personal interventions in assuming responsibility and accountability for a group of patients for a designated time frame.
