Hospice Nurse - Full-Time, Days
Outpatient Hospice Services
Schedule: 8:00am-5:00pm, Day Shift
This position may be eligible for a sign-on bonus and relocation.
Deliver Compassionate Care in the Comfort of Home
Join Novant Health as a Hospice Home Care Nurse, providing expert nursing care and emotional support to hospice patients and their loved ones. You'll follow approved standards of care, hospital policies, physician's orders, and individualized care plans - making a profound difference in patients' final journey.
In this role, you will:
• Provide skilled nursing care to hospice patients in their homes
• Support patients' families with education, comfort, and resources
• Coordinate with interdisciplinary teams to ensure seamless, quality care
• Uphold dignity, comfort, and compassion every step of the way
What We're Looking For
  • Education: High School Diploma or GED, required. 4 Year / Bachelors Degree Graduate of an accredited school of nursing required; BSN preferred.
  • Experience: Two years direct patient care in medical surgical nursing, required. Previous home care or hospice experience, preferred.
  • Licensure/Certification: Current RN licensure in appropriate state, required.
  • Additional Skills (required): Ability to provide direct patient care, demonstrate excellent nursing skills Excellent verbal and written communication skills, problem solving skills, and basic math skills. Understands hospice philosophy and issues of death/dying and demonstrates competency in pain and symptom management with EOL care. Ability to interpret information to identify each patient's requirements for care relative to his/her age specific needs. Ability to prioritize, organize and handle varying and unpredictable situation such as emergencies or crisis situations. Must be flexible, versatile, adaptable to change, with good critical thinking, problem solving and diplomacy skills. Knowledge of procedures and nursing standards of practice, both general and specific to the specialties of medical- surgical nursing. Ability to interact effectively with diverse individuals at all levels of authority, in teams and on committees. Actively identifies new areas for learning; regularly creating and taking advantage of learning opportunities; using newly gained knowledge and skill on the job and learning through their application. Must have computer experience and have reliable transportation to and from all work related assignments and activities. Must be flexible to travel as needed between different locations, as assigned, in all weather conditions and on roads in varying degrees of repair. Must be available for after hours call on rotational basis. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, night driving, and ability to adjust and focus.
