Town of Milford, NH | Water Utilities Department
Full-Time | Grade 12
The Town of Milford is seeking a dependable and experienced Water Utilities Clerk to process and maintain all Water & Sewer customer accounts, Water Meter inventory and accounts payable. Responds to public inquiries. Processes and tracks water & sewer billings. Performs administrative functions for Foreman-Water and Wastewater.
Key Responsibilities

  • Answer phone, take messages and route calls/mail. May greet and assist general public.
  • Purchase supplies for the department as necessary and maintain department office equipment inventory records.
  • Provide customer service (internal and external) on an on-going basis by responding to customer inquiries regarding water and sewer billings and various other areas coordinated by the Water Utilities Department (WUD)
  • Facilitate scheduling of water/sewer appointments for technicians and Foreman and/or general public.
  • Schedule shut off work orders of non-payments for water technicians.
  • Generates monthly water-sewer and job work billings.
  • Post daily receipts (accounts receivable). Follow-up and collection of overdue water and sewer accounts receivables.
  • Process accounts payable relative to Department Billing functions.
  • Data entry and/or support of record keeping relative to the Water and Wastewater Department.
  • Maintain and update customer accounts as necessary. Responds to customer inquiries regarding water and sewer billings and various other areas coordinated by the Water Utilities Department (WUD)
  • Establish and maintain filing system.
  • Generates month-end reports for Director and Finance Dept
  • Prepares various spread sheet analysis reports as requested
  • Retrieve water meter readings when assistance is needed.
  • Possession of State of New Hampshire notary seal for the purpose of officiating town documents.
  • In the event of the Secretary's absence, ability to perform basic tasks related to secretary's daily duties.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
Skills & Experience
  • Ability to utilize various software packages (MUNIS, N_SIGHT, MS Office, Citizen Self Service)
  • Utilize postage machine for mailings and maintain balance.
  • Utilize folding/sealing machine to prepare bills for mailing.
  • Know, understand and enforce Water Department Rules and Regulations.
  • Confidentiality required.
  • Odors from normal WUD activities may be noticeable in various locations within the facility, including the administrative areas.
  • Must be able to understand and follow oral and written instructions.
  • Must be able to follow established safety rules and procedures.
  • Must be dependable, responsible and conscientious.
  • Requires that this employee treat the citizens of the Town and members of the staff with respect and courtesy to promote and maintain effective working relationships between taxpayers, the public and all Town departments.
  • Requires the projection of a positive attitude and image about the Town of Milford, a pleasant demeanor, and a commitment to service to the public and staff.
Qualifications
  • S. Diploma or GED.
  • Able to interact well with public.
  • Self-motivation and ability to work with a minimum of supervision.
  • Ability to perform repetitive type tasks and work under pressure.
  • Computer data entry experience and word processing skills.
  • Accuracy with figures is essential.
  • Valid NH Driver's license
