Job description

Description:

Perform design and layout functions required for the project (wire sizing and routing; equipment room layout; one line diagrams; coordination with building elements and building systems and coordination with outside clients), while coordinating with designers, drafters, and engineers. Review drawings for proper practices, quality, clarity, and consistency with office design standards and building codes.

  • Perform field inspections to verify and document existing site conditions.
  • Effectively coordinate with internal and external members of the design team, including firm staff, client owners and architects. Coordinate equipment locations, routing and share pertinent project information with other disciplines and/or clients in a timely manner.
Requirements:

Technical or Associates degree from an accredited technical institution or college is required. Bachelor’s or Associates degree in Drafting or Engineering Technology is also acceptable.


  • 2+ years’ experience in electrical design/drafting including the design, layout and sizing of electrical wiring and ductwork for building systems.
  • Familiar with BIM systems
  • Experience in Revit
  • Proven ability to read and understand both 2D and 3D drawings.
  • Proficiency in MS Office.
  • Superior communication skills.

The Work Environment:

  • Work environment is primarily indoors at firms’ facility, with approximately 10% of time spent indoors/outdoors at project or construction sites where hard-hat and other safety gear is often required. (PPE is provided by firm.)
  • While performing field work associated with this position employee will be required to stand, walk, bend, kneel, stoop, crouch, crawl and carry and/or climb ladders of varying heights. The employee may lift and/or move items over 50 pounds.
