Position Overview

The Student Worship Minister at Northside is responsible for leading and nurturing the worship team across student and young adult programming with a specific emphasis on student engagement and development. This role involves planning worship services, recruiting and mentoring volunteers, and fostering a worship culture that aligns with Northside's mission and vision. Additionally, the Student Worship Minister will support the spiritual growth of worship team members, with focused mentorship for volunteer team members, and lead worship for weekend services and special events as needed.


Job Duties

  • Student Ministry Service Planning and Execution - 70%
    • Prepare and execute weekly Student Ministry Sunday evening gatherings and special events, including song selection, service programming, and scheduling.
    • Program service elements (worship sets, message, transitions) to align with overall service flow.
    • Schedule bands and technical teams for each Student Ministry service, ensuring all roles are filled and teams are prepared.
    • Prep and clear stage and booth before and after services, ensuring smooth transitions and efficient use of resources.
    • Lead worship during weekly Student Ministry services, creating an engaging and impactful worship experience for students.
    • Recruit students and young adults for the student worship team, investing in their spiritual development and musical abilities.
    • Be an instrumental creative voice in the planning and execution of special events as needed.
    • Consistently evaluate and creatively improve the worship programming for Student Ministry, keeping it fresh and engaging for students.
  • Worship Team Leading and Collaboration - 20%
    • Prayerfully pursue a heart of worship and collaborate with the Worship Team to maintain and cultivate a healthy worship culture across all ministries.
    • Collaborate in the planning of weekend service flows, working with the weekend experience team to ensure seamless integration of worship into the overall service.
    • Lead worship in the auditorium 4-6 times a year, contributing to the weekend worship services and creating an engaging environment for the congregation.
    • Lead worship at additional times throughout the year (Nights of Worship, Easter, and Christmas), offering special worship experiences to the broader church community.
  • Young Adults Service Planning and Execution - 10%
    • Work with the Young Adults Minister monthly to support and plan service flows, set up team support, and contribute to the overall ministry strategy for the ministry.
    • Lead worship on Wednesday nights, 1-2 times a month, during young adult services, engaging the young adult community through music and worship.


Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in worship ministry, music, or a related field preferred.
  • 3+ years of experience leading worship, ideally in both youth and adult ministry settings.
  • Proficiency in worship technology (Planning Center, Nashville Numbers, Ableton, Logic Pro) and familiarity with sound systems (Yamaha), lighting systems (Vista), and live production.


Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Strong personal faith and alignment with the core values and mission of Northside (C3 Faithfulness as outlined below).
  • Proficient in leading worship vocally and with a primary instrument (guitar or piano), with strong technical and musical skills.
  • Skilled in vocal training, harmonies, and leading blended worship settings, with the ability to mentor and guide student vocalists and musicians effectively.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, capable of inspiring and supporting students and adults in their worship and spiritual journeys.
  • Ability to organize and manage multiple projects, maintain a budget, and oversee event logistics.
  • Passionate about worship ministry and culture, with a heart for spiritual mentorship and creating engaging worship experiences.
  • Participate in general pastoral duties as needed (weddings, funerals, counseling, Pastor on Call (POC), etc.)
  • Proficient with Mac, Google Suite, Planning Center, Rock Database, Asana, Slack.
