Job Summary

Reporting to the Director of Advising, the Adult Success Coach is responsible for monitoring, advising, registering, and coaching a caseload of nontraditional students to support academic success.

Job Duties

โ€ข Provide proactive and individualized coaching for the assigned student population, leveraging social media and other digital communications to check in with students regularly and remind them of key deadlines and other important information

โ€ข Facilitate student recruitment, enrollment, and retention

โ€ข Provide academic advisement and registration assistance to assigned student population

โ€ข Assist students with academic planning for timely degree completion

โ€ข Assist students in accessing resources for academic, financial, and/or personal support

โ€ข Maintain a flexible schedule for student appointments, to include evening hours as needed

โ€ข Collaborate with faculty, student success, and academic support staff on the delivery of support services

โ€ข Promote visibility of coaching services through outreach to students and faculty

โ€ข Collaborate on individual student success strategies

โ€ข Maintain appropriate grant records following grantor agency guidelines and State of Tennessee records retention requirements

โ€ข Collect and analyze grant project data

โ€ข Prepare institutional and grantor agency reports as required

โ€ข Participate in cross-training with other staff within the Student Success Division as appropriate

โ€ข Complete other assignments as directed by supervisionย 

Minimum Qualifications

โ€ข Bachelorโ€™s degree from an accredited institution and one year of postsecondary experience working with students for academic advising, registration, and/or other student services related to enrollment or retention.
OR
โ€ข Associate degree from an accredited institution and three years of postsecondary student-facing experience working with students for academic advising, registration, and/or other student services related to enrollment or retention.

Preferred Qualifications

โ€ข Experience working with nontraditional community college students.
โ€ข Grant management experience
โ€ข Experience with caseload management
โ€ข Conversational ability or fluency in a second language

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

โ€ข Technology Skills: MS Office skills, Word, Excel, Outlook; videoconferencing software; digital records management systems; general operating systems and data information systems
โ€ข Ability to communicate with individuals from a diverse range of backgrounds
โ€ข Written and verbal communication skills

โ€ข Travel is minimal to Northeast State locations and professional development conferences.
โ€ข Some night work will be required during peak advising/registration periods.
โ€ข This is a grant-funded position. Continued employment contingent on grant funding.
