Job description

Job Title: Director of Strategic Systems Engineering
Location: Multi-Site (Cape May, NJ; Santa Fe Springs, CA; Blacks Harbour, NB, Canada)
Reports To: Sr. Director of Operations
Travel: Up to 50% (as needed to support each plant)
PURPOSE
Collaborates with corporate engineering, manages capital expenditures, and supports factory engineering. Drives process optimization through automation and process re-engineering. Provides leadership and technical input on major cross functional projects.
RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Identify and develop process optimization, process technology and process re-engineering opportunities that deliver product innovation, cost reduction and / or quality improvement. Focus will rely heavily on automation and control system implementation/improvement
  • Solve technical issues and lead root cause teams. Gather relevant criteria, analyze and propose strategic business initiatives/solutions
  • Manage all aspects of project planning and execution including RFPs, issuing technical specifications, management of vendors, installation, and factory acceptance testing
  • Work as a Project leader to drive key cross-functional projects
  • Position will focus on automation, process improvement, energy usage optimization, factory sustainability efforts, establishing equipment and spare parts standard and driving capital expenditure process
  • Expand in-house automation and engineering capabilities
  • Remote position with up to 40% travel required

QUALIFICATIONS
  • B.S. Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related technical field
  • Minimum 10 years experience in a manufacturing environment and applicable experience in technical, operations or engineering positions is required.
  • Extensive Controls Systems knowledge specifically focused on process automation, including PLC, HMI, SCADA development
  • Proficient in use and implementation of industrial communication protocols including Modbus, Profibus, ControlNet, DeviceNet, Ethernet TCP/IP, HART, etc
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications, Microsoft Project, CAD systems and solid modeling software
  • The candidate must be able to work well with people, and must be able to inspire colleagues to accept and adopt change
  • Ability to Read/Interpret Electrical Schematics
  • Interpret P&IDs (Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams)
  • Assist in rapid prototyping including the manufacture of equipment/parts using power hand / machine tools
  • Operate with absolute integrity, work with intention and clarity to build the future
