JOB TITLE: CMA – Universal Worker

DEPARTMENT: Nursing

REPORTS TO: LPN or RN Nursing Supervisor

Position Summary

The CMA provides direct personal care services to Residents in the home and assures that all company policies and procedures, standards and Residents rights are observed during his/her assignment in the home.

Position Requirements

Adhere to the Resident Assessment and Care Plan for each of the Residents in the home.

Provide skilled personal assistance with bathing, dressing, oral care, grooming and any other assistance needed to assure that all personal needs are met completely, in a timely manner.

Provide dignified assistance for incontinent residents.

Administer medication to Residents (if certified by the State as CMA) in accordance with State regulations and training standards, assuring that all medication charts are kept up to date.

Maintain an accurate Narcotic Count following the policies and procedures of the company. Any discrepancies will need to be communicated to the Nursing Supervisor or On Call IMMEDIATELY.

Assurance that all Resident care logs, charts, records, journals, etc. are kept current.

Be knowledgeable at all times regarding Resident behavior problems; effect and effectiveness of medications; changes in behavior, appetite, sleeping habits; doctor’s appointments; family outings; and other pertinent information. Report any changes, accidents or incidents involving a Resident to a Supervisor or On Call IMMEDIATELY.

Communicate with CNA’s and other CMA’s on any changes of Resident Care that has been passed on by the previous shifts from LPN’s or RN’s.

Keep the home clean, orderly, organized, and safe at all times, and does the laundry of the home and the Residents on a regular basis.

Prepare meals according to the menu plans (including special dietary needs) and follow the daily schedule as well as follow all the other kitchen protocols.

Provides focused individual Resident interaction and activities in accordance with each Residents Assessment and Care Plan, assuring appropriate movement, exercise and mental stimulation for each Resident in the home.

Is knowledgeable of KDADS care regulations and compliance requirements.

Interact with Residents, families, and other staff in a professional manner.

Participate in all the required staff education meetings.

Perform other reasonable duties as requested by Management.

Monitor over condition of the property including yard, upkeep, trash removal, snow removal, etc. and refers all home or yard maintenance problems to the Management.

Act in the best interest of Home of the Flint Hills at all times.

Adheres to company appearance guidelines always when working in the home, attending a staff meeting or training session, or representing the company in any other capacity.

Become knowledgeable of all the Company’s policies and procedures.
