Position Overview:
As our NDE Technologist you will play a critical role in supporting the manufacturing of naval nuclear components by overseeing nondestructive testing (NDT) activities, maintaining qualification programs, and ensuring compliance with applicable standards. This role provides technical guidance, drives process improvements, and upholds quality and safety throughout the inspection process.

On-site in Euclid, Ohio

 

Your Day to Day as a NDE Technologist:

  • Provide oversite of NDT personnel, maintain records of qualification, monitoring and reinspection.
  • Train and qualify NDT personnel
  • Obtain and maintain examiner qualifications in one or more of the following methods: VT, PT, MT, UT, RT with initial focus will being on VT and PT.
  • Reviewing, writing and qualifying NDT procedures as required per NAVSEA 250-1500-1 & MIL-STD-2132
  • Taking an active role in resolving major NDT problems, including exceptions and submittals (DSR's RAR's ad REC's)
  • Responsible for designing, improving, and implementing inspection fixtures to increase safety and efficiency.
  • Provide daily NDT floor support in the manufacturing of naval nuclear components.
  • Reviewing and dispositioning non-conforming hardware.
  • Responsible for creating and maintaining work instructions to inspect parts in accordance with contract requirements, which includes determining the proper inspection methods.
  • Review vendor procedures, inventory transfers, data history books, and supplier technical requirements.
  • Reviewing manufacturing process routers and sketches, ensuring processes are in accordance with contract requirements.
  • Ensure material traceability is maintained throughout processing, from raw material to delivery of product.
  • Troubleshoot welding, manufacturing, inspection, and test processes as issues arise.
  • Participate in projects such as lean/six sigma teams or process improvement initiatives.

Required Qualifications:

  • Must be capable of qualifying as an NDT Examiner for Navy specifications NAVSEA 250-1500-1 for welds, MIL-STD-2132 for base materials, and NSTR-99 personnel qualification
  • High School Diploma or GED equivalence is required. Certified Weld Inspector, Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering, or Manufacturing/Electrical Engineering is preferred.
  • Minimum of six (6) years of relevant experience.
  • Prior experience/certifications in VT, PT, MT, UT and RT preferred.
  • Proficient with computer software to create, modify, and analyze complex 2D or 3D technical drawings and models
  • Understanding of ANSI Y14.5 Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerance (GD&T) preferred.
  • Familiarity with non-destructive testing (NDT), including gaging and other inspection methods is a plus.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.

 Pay: $79,000 - $119,000

The base salary range for this position in Ohio (US-OH) at the start of employment is expected to be between $79,000 and $119,000 per year. However, the base salary offered is based on local job market factors, and may vary further depending on factors specific to the selected job candidate, such as job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and other objective business considerations. Subject to these considerations, the total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, such as an annual cash incentive in addition to a full range of medical, retirement, and/or other benefits. Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided at such time the selected job candidate receives an offer of employment. If hired, the selected job candidate will be employed 'at-will,' unless employed at a location and in a position subject to a collective bargaining agreement.  The company further reserves the right to modify base salary (as well as any other discretionary payment, compensation or benefit program) at any time, including for reasons related to individual performance, company or individual department/team performance, and other market factors.
