Job description

Position Overview

We’re looking for a General Superintendent to take the lead on all civil construction activities across our large industrial and power generation projects. You bring deep experience in heavy industrial construction—including simple-cycle and combined-cycle facilities—with specialized expertise in concrete finishing, formwork, reinforcing steel, excavation, and foundations for rotating equipment.
You’ll be the driving force behind safe, on-schedule, and on-budget execution, working hand-in-hand with project leadership and every discipline on site.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and supervise all civil craft personnel, foremen, general foremen, and superintendents on site
  • Plan, schedule, and coordinate all civil construction activities aligned with the project schedule
  • Oversee and coordinate:
    – Excavation and underground work
    – Structural and equipment foundations
    – Concrete placement and finishing
    – Formwork and carpentry operations
    – Reinforcing steel installation
    – Anchor bolt setting and embedment installation
    – Equipment pad and rotating equipment foundation construction
  • Ensure proper installation and verification of complex anchor bolt patterns, templates, and embedments for turbines, generators, pumps, and other critical rotating equipment
  • Coordinate with project management, engineering, survey, quality, safety, and other craft disciplines
  • Ensure compliance with all safety policies and regulatory requirements, including OSHA and site-specific rules
  • Conduct daily job briefings, toolbox talks, and pre-task planning
  • Monitor productivity, manpower loading, equipment utilization, and material usage—adjusting plans to meet milestones
  • Review drawings, specifications, civil details, and work packages for proper execution
  • Interface with inspectors, client representatives, survey teams, and vendors
  • Identify and resolve field issues, constructability concerns, and work conflicts
  • Enforce quality control standards, dimensional tolerances, and inspection requirements for concrete and embedded items
  • Support equipment setting, alignment activities, and turnover requirements

Qualifications

Required

  • 10–15 years of experience in heavy civil or industrial construction, including direct power generation work
  • Proven experience on large industrial, simple-cycle, and combined-cycle power projects
  • Strong hands-on and supervisory experience with:
    – Excavation and underground utilities
    – Concrete foundations and structural concrete
    – Concrete finishing and formwork systems
    – Reinforcing steel installation
    – Anchor bolt and embedment installation
    – Rotating equipment foundations and equipment setting support
  • Prior experience as a Civil General Superintendent or Superintendent on large-scale projects
  • Strong understanding of civil drawings, survey control, foundation tolerances, and construction sequencing
  • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, structural details, specifications, and equipment foundation layouts
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills
  • Strong commitment to safety and quality

Preferred

  • NCCER certification or equivalent construction credentials
  • Experience on utility-scale or large industrial EPC projects
  • Familiarity with both union and non-union work environments
  • Experience with heavy equipment operations and crane coordination
  • Experience supporting turbine, generator, and major equipment installations

Work Environment

  • Ability to work extended hours, nights, weekends, and shutdown schedules as project needs require
  • Comfortable working in industrial environments, including excavation areas, elevated work, confined spaces, and outdoor conditions
  • Willingness to travel or work at remote project locations

Benefits

    • Competitive compensation paid weekly
    • Best-in-class; Medical, Dental, Vision, and LTD/STD
    • 401(k) with company match, vested day-one
    • Employee Stock Purchase Plan [ESPP]
    • Tuition Reimbursement
    • Paid Time Off, Holiday Pay, and Community Service Paid Time Off
    • Pet Coverage "For our Furry Friends"
    • Legal Assistance Coverage
    • Award winning safety programs
