HVAC & Plumbing Service Technician

Position Summary

The HVAC & Plumbing Service Technician will be responsible for diagnosing, repairing, maintaining, and installing HVAC and plumbing systems in residential and light commercial properties. The ideal candidate is a self-starter with strong technical skills, excellent customer service abilities, and a commitment to delivering high-quality work.

Responsibilities

HVAC Duties

  • Diagnose and repair residential and light commercial heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems.
  • Perform preventative maintenance and seasonal inspections.
  • Install HVAC equipment, including furnaces, boilers, air conditioners, heat pumps, mini-split systems, and related components.
  • Troubleshoot electrical, mechanical, and refrigerant-related issues.
  • Perform system performance testing and recommend solutions to improve efficiency.
  • Ensure compliance with local codes and manufacturer specifications.

Plumbing Duties

  • Diagnose and repair plumbing systems, fixtures, water heaters, boilers, pumps, and piping systems.
  • Perform drain cleaning and troubleshooting.
  • Install and replace water heaters, fixtures, piping, and plumbing components.
  • Identify leaks and recommend repair solutions.
  • Conduct inspections and preventative maintenance.
  • Ensure all plumbing work meets local and state codes.

Customer Service & Operations

  • Communicate findings and repair recommendations clearly to customers.
  • Provide estimates and explain service options.
  • Complete service reports and documentation accurately.
  • Maintain company vehicle, tools, and equipment.
  • Participate in on-call rotation as needed.
  • Follow all safety procedures and company policies.

Qualifications

Required

  • Minimum 3 years of HVAC and/or plumbing service experience.
  • Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
  • Strong troubleshooting and diagnostic skills.
  • Ability to work independently and manage daily service calls.
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills.
  • Ability to lift 50+ pounds and work in various weather conditions and confined spaces.

Preferred

  • EPA Certification.
  • HVAC certifications (NATE, HVAC Excellence, etc.).
  • Plumbing license or apprenticeship experience.
  • Experience with boilers, hydronic systems, tankless water heaters, and heat pumps.
  • Experience using service management software and mobile field applications.
