JOB TITLE:Certified Nursing Assistant
LOCATION:Steger Primary Center, Steger Intermediate Center, 
    Columbia Central School
SUPERVISOR: Director of Student Services     
FLSA Status:Non-exempt
Union/Non-Union:    Non-Union





$18/hour

JOB SUMMARY:

The certified nursing assistant will work directly with students under the supervision of the district nurse to attend to students' immediate medical needs.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: 

  • Basic medical knowledge and techniques
  • Recording of vital signs, including respiration, body temperature, pulse, and blood pressure
  • Changing dressings
  • Maintaining patient safety and personal hygiene
  • Providing personal care based on students' individual needs
  • Caring for multiple students in school
  • Providing empathy and compassion
  • Maintaining all required health and medical records
  • Assist District RN with the registration of new students
  • Assists District RN with hearing and vision screenings
  • Maintaining confidentiality surrounding all student health records

ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES: Additional tasks as assigned.
 

ORGANIZATIONAL RELATIONSHIPS:

Reports to:

  • Building Principal
  • District Registered Nurse
  • Director of Student Services

PHYSICAL ACTIVITY: 

  • The role requires frequent sitting, walking, standing, and the ability to lift 50 pounds.  
  • Occasional travel to various school locations required.

WORK ENVIRONMENT: 

  • Work is performed in an environment where unusual temperature and noise are relatively nonexistent
  • Work is performed in an environment where health hazards may occur
  • Occasional need for work outside the normal hours/days

LICENSES/CREDENTIAL: 

  • Completion of state-approved training as:
    • Certified Nursing Assistant
  • Possess valid driver's license
  • Previous experience as a CNA  in an educational environment preferred

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: 

  • 181 days per year
  • 7 hours per day
    • 7:15 a.m. - 3:15 p.m.
  • Twelve paid sick days 
  • Four paid personal days  
  • Yearly vacation days as stated in Policy 5:330. 
  • Salary and insurance as negotiated

EVALUATION: The performance of this role is evaluated according to the Board's policy on evaluating professional personnel by the Director of Student Services
